it should be possible. Epic probably dont see the benefit of scaling UE4 to wiiU because they dont see a good business opportunity there.

This. And you can be sure Epic will port itself, if customers of Epic/UE sell their UE3-games a lot on WiiU and also want to sell UE4-games. But this is unlikely, that's why Epic didn't made it for WiiU in the first place.

Also, so far are barely any UE4-games, so it is not a big deal for now.

Isn't UE4 going to more demanding and more expensive than UE3 when it comes to developing for Nintendo? Working on last gen tech should be more profitable. I mean I know Nintendo doesn't want to seem like the gimp at the table but they are.

1.The Wii U has already been showned to be more powerful than the 360 and the PS3, by 1.5 0.5-3 times depending on who you ask.

haha thanks Galaki

The truth is there aren't enough licensees that want Wii U support and none of Epics internal teams are interested in developing for the platform so it would be a waste of their time and money to add support in UE4 when UE3 already is designed for that level of hardware.

If enough of their customers requested support they would create a new renderer for the Wii U just like they will for next gen mobile devices tho it wouldn't offer all the features that actually make UE4 interesting vs UE3 anyway so it would have to be a lot. That is not going to happen and if one or two devs want to bring their UE4 games to Wii U they could create their own renderer from scratch and plug it into UE4 if they really wanted.

This is it.

What scaled down on PS4?!

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-unreal-engine-4-ps4-vs-pc

Please read the last update at the bottom. Also consider that it is a beta game engine built with an SDK in alpha/beta stage in a development console. Sure the PS4 doesn't have the computing power of a GTX Titan, but it still kicks many other PCs arses. The PS4 has roughly 9x the power of a PS3. The Wii U what? 2x?

You guys should really leran, that there is no magical technical barrier that separates last-gen-tech and current-gen-tech. That is too much console-think. PC are gradually better depending on what you pay and when you buy. And not even that - a newer computer may have additional support for some effects or others dropped or reduced. There are different components that can be on different power level.

There is no reason UE4 cannot run on PS360 or whatever - it will run on mobile devices. It is a business decision. And WiiU don't get UE4, because Epic thinks it will not get enough UE-powered games. And I think they are right on this.

And look at this angle: PS360 get gimped UE3 compared to WiiU.

My 2 cents.

good post.   your 2 cents was bascially what i was trying to say expect,. you know.. stated well.

and i agree with your rant too.  I feel like a thread needs to be created:

"wiiU - you get what you paid for"

Innovative, expensive controller - check

cheap price tag - check

"mature" hardware incapable of running bleeding edge software technology - check.

..now stop complaining about it.

or maybe i should state that I'm getting what i pay for with the ps4/xbox8.  a premium price for a premium console.

Your average and generic UE game does not make Nintendo hardware jump off the shelves like it does for sony and microsoft. And Nintendo knows that.

They would rather develop their own engines and tools and 3rd party exclusives using such tech and building 3rd party collaborations like monster hunter, fire emblem x something and W101.

An optimized, specifically tailored in house engine is better, more practical business wise and cheaper than whatever epic could do on that regard porting UE4.

Its not in the pipeline for NIntendo and they don't give a damn about it. Thats why your iPhone 3G has UE3 support but 3DS does not. Its not because of hardware limitations.

The engine is supposed to be scalable to tablet and smartphones....even web browsers

Are you guys trying to tell me that tablets, web browsers and smart phones are more capable than Wii U?

Can that target demo run on Wii U? No.
Can the engine run on Wii U? Yes.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

When Epic have confidence in the investment they will. I doubt they there is a ton of demand from 3rd parties for Wii U support to be built in UE4...
