And? We all know that, still waiting for something we all didn;t know. No one said it will be a PC.

Shut up. I'm not even being rude here, just shut up.

The quote is in OP.

"The kind of stuff that they announced that they're doing, the level of convenience and things like that... they're making a really perfect gaming PC," he added.

There are indeed many points that PS4 has an advantage over a PC, and because there are now using the same architecture it's much easier to compare. The truth is it will be steps and beyond better than any PC you can buy for $400-$500. To name another advantage: the crazy fast speed that the cpu and gpu will be able to communicate because it's on one chip, instead of the communication having to pass over an entire mainboard. Also the way that the cpu and gpu will be able to work together because of it, is simply unseen on the PC.

Thats Mark Rein from epic, he knows more then you so sorry if I take his words over yours. AND it is obvious he is talking about developing, and with PS4 being PC centric and unified it actually has big advantages over PC, not hard to see what he is saying. He is not saying it will be exactly like PC read between the lines.  PC does not have unified architecture and PC is a mess of specs and drivers.

Almost nuffin beats the PS4. It's the new PS3.

Not at all. It's actually the completely opposite.
The major change being that its easy to develop for.

So Sony finally catches up with MS. Good for devs.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

*sigh* VGKing, I know you don't know better, so let me try to help you:

Believe it or not, Visual Studio is a product from Microsoft.

2. Microsoft, many ppl here don't seem to know, build compilers, debuggers, assemblers and whole dev-environments since *ages*. DirectX is also made by Microsoft.

Feel free to google for more sites proving my point.

Please stop hunting for posts that could possibly try to say that something with PS4 is not awesome and reply to things you obviously don't know anything of. Thanks.

I gave you a chance. I thought I was being nice with my comment but I guess now I have no choice. Reported.

(What am I talking about? Well you brought up Microsoft and the Xbox when it didn't need to be brought up. Your "Sony finally catching up to Microsoft comment is flaming. You are provoking people. Your latest reply didn't help any either. Windows is made by Microsoft? NOW THAT IS FUCKIN' OBVIOUS. The fact that you even felt the need to mention it is further proof that you have this agenda. I'll let the mods deal with you and this is the last you'll hear from me in this thread)

You are free to report whatever you want. As you have nothing more to say I feel that *your* response is only taken personal which is a level I don't want to enter. Leave it to mods to decide what will happen. Obviously you are not able to discuss on a proven way of discussing.

interesting Mark Cerny interview with the Japanese press about PS4

Cerney: In the next few years, we’ll also be supporting a different approach

-We have our own shader APIs, but in the future, we’ll provide functions which will allow deeper access to the hardware level and it will be possible to directly control hardware using the shader APIs. As a mid-term target, in addition to common PC APIs such as OpenGL and DirectX, we’ll provide full access to our hardware.

-This will also lead to the main difference with the PS3 era. The main difference is, we will have many titles for launch. Because game development is easier, there shouldn’t be a barrier as there had been previously. PS3 had the image that it was difficult to develop for. Even the PS2 wasn’t that easy. PS4 has a PC CPU and a GPU that’s been enhanced from a PC so the game lineup should become very rich.

-Realizing Energy Efficiency and Smoothness using a Second Custom Chip with Embedded CPU
Cerny: The second custom chip is essentially the Southbridge. However, this also has an embedded CPU. This will always be powered, and even when the PS4 is powered off, it is monitoring all IO systems. The embedded CPU and Southbridge manages download processes and all HDD access. Of course, even with the power off.

-Cerney: The PS4 has a dedicated encoder for video sharing and such. There are a few dedicated encoder and decoder functions which are available and use the APU minimally. This is also used for playback of compressed in-game audio in MP3 and audio chat.

When the system is fully on, the x86 CPU core controls the video sharing system. However the Southbridge has features to assist with network traffic control.

I know what he said and I already said that it's good for devs. I also already said that MS uses an altered version of DirectX and of course offers low-level-access to hardware, like they always did. NextBox also offers dedicated hardware for special purposes but the discussion was about an easy dev-environment and MS was and is known for that since first Xbox.

Excellent, since I already have one of those, I won't need the PS4 then.

I LOVE ICELAND!

"He also pointed to the memory limitations of the 32-bit versions of Windows as an example of how PS4 titles could even surpass what "most PCs" can do."

I could have sworn the majority of PC's are sold with with the 64bit version of Windows since Windows 7 (or even since Vista?) In 2010 46% of all sold Windows 7 versions were 64bit. Since then 64bit was pushed even more, Windows 7 is the most used Windows version currently
