Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's silence on WiiU to be broken soon

Yep, just read about that. I figured one would be this week, but really... focus is on 3DS?

Seems pretty stupid to me. I'd focus on information that is going to directly affect your investor's confidence, which should be plans on the console that isn't performing up to stated expectations.

So, this is actually one of two or Wii U has to also be included in this ND. Maybe just quickly mentioning firm dates for some first party software. Frankly, if they don't then I'd expect a great majority of investor questions to be related to Wii U and its lack of first party content.

I guess Iwata is holding any bit of information about Wii U until the Investor's Meeting just to tell them some release dates and to "please understand" them. E3 seems like it will focus on Wii U.

I'm sure E3 will focus heavily on Wii U's rest of 2013 and a couple big games for 2014, but seriously, this lack of info now is greatly hurting them and it will be reflected as a drop in stock price from investors jumping ship. I know I would.

Yup. Iwata can say whatever he desires, even that he'll resign the next year if forecast is not matched, but investors could be very angry and roll his head next week. I honestly think they are playing with fire.

I think, I got Iwata's strategy!
Right now they doing everything possible to DROP Nintendo shares down... Then on the absolute minimum they'll buy it back. Then announce a shitload of firstparty WiiU games, make a pricecut in august and after the Nintendo shares jump up again - they'll sell back the stock...
If that's how he plans to get a billion operating income, he's a genious!!!

This 'keeping us in the dark regarding the Wii U' attitude is infuriating. It´s now mid April and where the hell is Pikmin 3?...the impression it gives is Iwata & Co were caught with their pants down when it comes to developing for the Wii U, which is surprising.

Unlike the Wii, everything that surrounds the Wii U just seems like a bad, sloppy job..from the initial lackluster presentation at E3 2011 to the terrible marketing..it´s like the people that made the Wii a huge success just disappeared.

I do hope that there`s a Wii U direct right after the conference next week.
If they can`t announce anything (games and release dates) by then, it will be bad for them and Wii U.

its going to have to be $150 before i think of a wiiu.

I'm starting to get the sense Nintendo is not going to release Pikmin 3 or Wii Fit U until there's a price drop because perhaps they've made up their mind that games like that will do nothing but bomb given the current Wii U climate.

Perhaps they're waiting to be able to drop the price in June/July/August or whatever and will just take the first months of the Wii U as a write off.

It's been a disaster, no doubt. I expect a lot of "please understand"s from Iwata at the investors briefing and a lot of excuses.

This actually sounds quite plausible. Why would Nintendo release games that could be at least moderate to big successes, if they can turn into miserable bombs given the odds?

I'm actually starting to give up on having a balanced experience on a Nintendo home console, and as of late, my X360 has been giving me all the gaming I need to/can do. Since last half of the current gen, it's been bittersweet, but more bitter than sweet really. Secrecy, delays, cancellations, bad press, missed localizations, lack of third party support. I'm not going through all of this again. I won't impulse buy a Wii U. Even if Zelda comes out, I will hold my horses.
I'm disappointed, because what could have been, just isn't so and won't probably. Nintendo let the opportunity fly by, and at least for me, they will have to do a lot to get me back. Perhaps I'll get a 3DS, switch this time to a handheld, Wii U is irrelevant for me.

Good man! Moderate expectations and informed decisions are the best way to avoid disappointment.

For what it's worth, the 3DS has been pretty kick-ass recently. I haven't really felt the need to play a home console recently, and I was hardly a handheld-first gamer in prior years.
