Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's silence on WiiU to be broken soon

Of course, but optimism slowly dindled after seeing that most if not all of the trailers was gibberish.

I don't own a WiiU yet. I will obviously, but because I'm a long time Nintendo fan. Same can't be said for majority of gamers.

so x is gibberish? lol

Iwata's talk is gibberish. The games are not, I meant to say that it was all blah blah once again.
Even then, we gotta be careful about games announced during Nintendo directs or E3. Many have suffered a terrible fate (cancelled or unlocalized)

Yeah Xenoblade sold pretty well here and has a hardcore cult following. We'll get X. No way we won't.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

It may be digital download only but we'll get X I would imagine. I think the "Fire Emblem model" is going to be the future release model for these types of games -- a very limited physical copy shipment + digital release. Better than nothing.

There's no reason not to localize every game now IMO, even if it sells only say 150,000 copies between North America and Europe, I have to imagine that's enough to cover translation costs.

We're nearing the middle of the month, so I've been haunting news sites waiting for a "Nintendo Direct tomorrow!" update. Nothing gets me hyped more than those ND's, and seeing as last month only gave us a mini one for one game I'm hoping for something much bigger this time. (Also, there's the fact that things are pretty terrible right now and we need a February-level of announcements here.)

It's terrible that even their events are being kept secretly. It's as if they didn't have a plan and act solely on desperation. Secrecy hurts a product more than it helps it. Now that the console's out, there's no need to have your games and functionality as a mistery. Why would someone buy a console that's engulfed in mist? Even retailers are unaware of what's to come.

I'm constantly confused and saddened by their actions (or the lack thereof).  It really does seem like they don't know what they're doing, doesn't it?  It's like they just stopped making games for two years and don't want anyone to find out.

3 weeks later and we don't have a ND nor the silence has been broken.
Guess until the 24th we are not going to get any news. 12 days left.

They're not going to want to go into the April 24th investor's meeting with no news of first party Nintendo games in Q2.

I expect a ND before then. Which would have to be next Thursday.

I admit I was wrong. I thought Nintendo had taken seriously that wake up call. It seems they didn't and nothing that has happened since I made this thread is leading me to believe otherwise.

I now believe they are in deep trouble and they have no serious plan on how to overcome this. I was waiting for at least some Japanese announcements from 3rd parties, but they aren't coming. Nintendo would have been all over them if they were indeed bringing games. Nintendo will suffer from worse support than Wii did. I can't believe they decided to release a console without a properly planned schedule, or games at all.

Good luck Iwata.

calling yourself out for being wrong. respect.

I thought this all along ... they won't have another big Wii U centric Nintendo Direct until just before the fiscal year end briefing.

It will take some of the sting off investors' worries about what could be some dissapointing sales figures and financials.

The last "blow out" Nintendo Direct for Wii U was a few days before they announced their Q3 results -- I don't think that was coincidence. It's damage control.

It is strange that they were so unprepared for the release of their own console.

Now I didn't jump in when the PS3/Xbox came out, I actually got a Wii (my first Nintendo Console)... but as i recall for quite a long time people complained there were little games available on the consoles (especially the PS3)....

So I think Nintendo, considering how badly they've been behind the curve in things such as trophies/networking, I really believe they were totally unprepared for the jump up from SD to HD. While Sony and MS had that pain (and 3rd parties) in 2006/2007 etc.

Why else isn't there a Zelda etc ready. Even as a non fan of Nintendo Games, you would *EXPECT* a game like that to be ready for or near launch...the rumours say its not going to be ready until next year seems laughable.

I think because the Wii-u is no wii, even if the next gen consoles don't sell amazingly well to begin with (in this economy its very possible)...I think the combination of better hardware, better 3rd party support and supporting the fans of their consoles with games such as killzone/halo/uncharted etc will mean the core fans will buy and be happy. I really don't think it will be very long for the Wii-u to be overtaken and pretty much insignificant for anyone who isn't a nintendo fan.

If 3rd parties support the consoles earlier this time... if i have the option of playing a AC4/GTA5 or the current gen versions (i.e they release at the same time), then this will convince many to move to the next gen consoles pretty much straight away.
