I admit I was wrong. I thought Nintendo had taken seriously that wake up call. It seems they didn't and nothing that has happened since I made this thread is leading me to believe otherwise.

I now believe they are in deep trouble and they have no serious plan on how to overcome this. I was waiting for at least some Japanese announcements from 3rd parties, but they aren't coming. Nintendo would have been all over them if they were indeed bringing games. Nintendo will suffer from worse support than Wii did. I can't believe they decided to release a console without a properly planned schedule, or games at all.

Good luck Iwata.

you are overreacting way too much, chill.....seriously. you think they aren't aware of anything?

Of course they are aware. Investors and gamers are aware of it too.

it's all the same with nintendo fans, they are complaining and after seeing big guns from nintendo they are all back in love with them, the cycle of life i guess.

We're nearing the middle of the month, so I've been haunting news sites waiting for a "Nintendo Direct tomorrow!" update. Nothing gets me hyped more than those ND's, and seeing as last month only gave us a mini one for one game I'm hoping for something much bigger this time. (Also, there's the fact that things are pretty terrible right now and we need a February-level of announcements here.)

I fail to see the meaning of your post. No one has been in love with Nintendo for a long time now. Have you even been following forums or gaming news sites?

If Nintendo's CEO keeps on failing to deliver his promises and all he does is appologize and ask for people to understand, then that means they really aren't in control of the situation and there's barely anything they can do. This has been happening for 2 years now. I know a comeback is possible, but as days go by, the likes of it happening or the impact of it grow small and smaller. The competitors are close to have their consoles debut. Yet Nintendo watches their own console from the distance. No meaningful action has been taken yet. Announcing that they are making games isn't enough.

I hate to repeat myself, but you need to see this. Nintendo didn't plan their console launch properly. They gambled again, much like they did with the Wii and the DS. Last times it went well for them, now it didn't.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

It's terrible that even their events are being kept secretly. It's as if they didn't have a plan and act solely on desperation. Secrecy hurts a product more than it helps it. Now that the console's out, there's no need to have your games and functionality as a mistery. Why would someone buy a console that's engulfed in mist? Even retailers are unaware of what's to come.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Nintendo went into the Wii U launch with a lot of arrogance. Their initial sales expectations were way too high for what they had to offer. They thought they could sell the console on the Nintendo and Wii names alone, thought the touchpad would reel people in with another trendy gimmick like motion on Wii, and thought a DS Mario game would be enough for Nintendo fans and NintendoLand would be another Wii Sports.

They were wrong on all counts. This is a huge management screwup.

The 3DS is doing fine in Japan at least, there's plenty of games in the sales schedule, and some more (*cough Puzzle&Dragons cough*) being added soon.

Arrogance and blindness to see that the Wii brand died a lot during 2010 and beyond. They killed it. They should have managed their resources better and kept Wii owners satisfied while the new console was bening prepared. Even then, I still can't see where the Wii U games are now, what took away so many resources from the Wii? They barely had anything for the Wii U ready, so there's a major fuck up going on or simply a lot of killed projects. Nintendo ended up announcing a lot of vaporware for the Wii and denying the West many games. Gamers leanrt the lesson, casual crowd had nothing else to play with and moved on.

Even in Japan the WiiU is struggling to get any attention. No Japanese devs have ANYTHING coming out for it, a real shame on Nintendo for this one. They should have secured at least a single game.

3DS is another story, and though it's performing very well in Japan, the console is Japanese centered and thus the poor sales in the west. Nintendo mismanaged that launch pretty terribly as well. 2 in a row, total loss of confidence from the market.

Of course, but optimism slowly dindled after seeing that most if not all of the trailers was gibberish.

I don't own a WiiU yet. I will obviously, but because I'm a long time Nintendo fan. Same can't be said for majority of gamers.
