the US version I been told has japanese va.

oh btw the JP va is the original in all MG games exept maybe MGR. also raiden was cyborg in MGS4 with white blood and all cyborgs in MGR have white blood in JP version exept sam that boss fight still red in jp version. i have he jp version it is 100% the same save for white blood for only cyborgs all humans are still red blood if it was Z 18+ only rated not D it would have full red blood in jp version to I am peed off t konami for that since lollipop chainsaw had a D regular version and a Z 18+ only primum edition

I've looked around and found several comments claiming that the US/EU versions don't include Japanese VA. You can apparently choose the language of subtitles/text in some versions though. Maybe someone here could confirm all this...

So, humans do have red blood on the Japanese version ? And Samuel as well ? Huh... All the footage I've seen of it had white blood, but I never got to check the humans... I've also remember hearing about some differences in the scene that has Sundowner slightly cutting a person's neck, which appears on one of the trailers. Can you confirm/deny this ? If there's still red blood in the game and no censorship on any scene, then maybe the white blood was actually the intended way and not just a way to avoid a Z rating... I know Raiden had white blood before, but I've seen fans arguing about which color should the blood be here and without having played the previous games, I have to plead ignorance.

By the way, the reason I stated that it's not surprising that the English VA is prioritized is that I've heard that Kojima actually prefers them over the Japanese ones, which makes sense given what Metal Gear tries to be. This is what makes the question of which VAs are the "original" ones arguable, even though I would lean towards the Japanese ones because of the games being created there. And I believe all versions of MGS4 are lip-synched to their respective VAs, right ?

lol kojima-san says a lot o things to different interviews don't take that to hart. if he wonted English va he would use it in al versions of mg games and not bother with  Japanese va like capcom with biohazard(resdent evil).

no it was to avoid a Zrating PG said it was done for cencership since konami didn't wont to publish a Z raed version in japan since same shops wont stock them

DmC is the king of hack'n slash. God of War is only a recycling of the previous GoW games, obviously Sony know how to milk that series, but as a gamer who played all the GoW games I've been disappointed. MGR:R has big flaws in its combat system, it's short, full of f*cking QTEs... and level design was very boring and flat. DmC is exactly what the series after DMC 2 and DMC 4 needed. Great gameplay, much deeper than combat system with Nero in DMC 4. Awesome level and art design and even better soundtrack. SSadistically SSSensational reboot !

I don't usually do this but THIS again makes no sense to me. Not sure how one could say Sony is milking GoW and it is just a recycling of previous games and not say the same about Devil May Cry....both have WORKING formulas that are pretty much in ALL of their games. So if you say that one is recycling then you pretty much have to say the same for the other....Now there is nothing wrong with liking DmC better it was just how you worded it that seemed a little odd to me.

Anyway ON TOPIC....I have not played NONE of them yet. I have Gow: A but haven't even opened it yet. Don't have the new DmC but I want to try it out and MGR....I am just kind of skeptical on that one but I hear a lot of good things about it....and how it is fun and BRUTAL...

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

I don't want anyone thinking I'm bashing Ascension btw as I do think its the best combat in the series so far. Especially the use of elements in combat as a built in part of your moveset.

Im just saying I still found the combat a lot less deep and complex than both Rising and DmC.

I was wondering when you would answer in this thread. Your comments in the sales section of MGR are priceless. =D

I've underlined those three statements. No argue in the short part. Other than the parry (Which I think that's what you complain, and let me answer that, you can't parry everything), why is the combat system flawed?

Full of f*cking (fucking?) QTEs... you've probably not played the game. There are like...ten mandatory QTE's in the whole game, the finishing moves in bosses battles and I don't know what else. Ten, as much. Ten. TEN. Don't come and say that enemies have QTE's too, because those are, primarily, not mandatory. You can either press those (if you want a stylish execution) or you can blade-cut them. But no need to press "QTE".

The level design was very boring and flat... I don't get this. It is not the prettiest of level design, but why was it boring? The third and fourth chapter throught Denver (Was it Denver?) looked priceless, especially when you could cut almost everything in a normal city. But perhaps that's just me.

Well, MGR has bad things with it, but in my experience, it was worth it, because it was brutal and it was fun xD

Currently playing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance right now, and this game is amazing, the cutting mechanic is fantastic! I'm stuck on the last boss though, but I'll finish him off sometime.

Don't tell me the final boss is not a sweet surprise :3

The first 3 months of this year has already seen the release of 3 awesome hack and slash games.  A genre which many times seems under represented has been in the spotlight for the first part of the year.

Now that all 3 have released the question is which is the best?  Is it God of War Ascension,  Metal Gear Solid Rising, or DMC?

Let the ultimate battle commence!

This can wait. Castlevania LOS2 and Deadpool are coming out soon and will lend themselves to the list pretty soon.

The new gameplay of the new GOW is actually harder to grasp at first than even the new DMC. The parry system is also less forgiving making dodging just as important as parrying for the first time ever. Ive been able to get through levels by parry kills in previous GOW titles. In this game theres no wayyyyy that is happening at all, which did area damage at times as well. Normally weak opponents attack in packs and no one is safe. If you think this game is the same I would question whether you've even played it or not. The gameplay was revamped to anticipate a human competitor and take far more thinking than any other DMC game to date. You can't spam parry no matter how precise you think you are. Block, parry, ram,  jump and roll, teather throws and and area swipes (while in teather lock) in no specific order will be your best friends in this game. This is no rinse and repreat title. This is by far the most thoughtful gameplay in a GOW game yet and the most challenging. Its satisfying so far. I need to finish the game during finals though.

Well, it could be just a business decision in order to sell more in Japan... But I guess you're right. If it were that important to him, he would take the Resident Evil route.

I know that they apparently focused on having cyborgs as enemies instead of humans to avoid the dreaded Z rating, but for some reason I thought they also had to avoid the use of red blood in general... But now that I remember, Resident Evil games are rated D there with some censorship, so things like dismemberment and decapitations are what get you a Z rating. Still, it seems like they could've gone with the white blood on all versions and get away with it by justifying it through the story/setting...

By the way, I love the ninja cat...
