As this thread could just have easily been titled 'fanboys getting over confident?' it becomes extremely obvious that, op, as an xbox fan, is intimidated by the fact that Sony are giving playstation fans major reasons to be excited, i can only assume the thread exists purely to ease his own insecurities. 'they're just being over confident, i've got nothing to be worried about' while at the same time being over confident himself that Microsoft will reveal a console that would outdo the ps4 and allow microsoft to lead the next gen.
Lets look at some facts:
1) specs for both consoles were leaked, by the same people for much of the info, despite the ps4 leaked specs having only 4gb of ram, the general concensus was that it was still a more powerful machine.
2) official specs are roughly outed by sony, doubling the ram, eradicating the only conceivable technological advantage for the 720's rumored specs.
3) AMD themselves (makers of both consoles cpu/gpu) have stated the one they designed for Sony is the most powerful one they've made for anyone.
4) Industry concensus that this gen Microsoft are focusing more on media capabilities and chargable services
5) general rumors of crappy drm, online requirement, used game blocking, kinect-always-in-use
What you end up with is a realization from Microsoft that their online services made them more money than their games, and now they want to basically rape this fact and offer as many chargable services for their new console as humanly possible, while pushing Windows 8 (or potentially Windows Blue either at launch or in a future update) to the consoles so they can bolster their OS division with the ability to add the consoles to their list of 'x84 machines running windows'.
All in all it seems Microsoft are kicking games out of the driving seat and letting them instead ride shotgun while they drive down every toll road in the world - where as Sony, it's ass still stinging from the pain dealt out from the ps3, is on the verge of collapse and knows it cannot afford to mess up as badly as the ps3 again, shutting down major facilities and selling off expendable stock and assets to bolster it's mobile and games divisions, theyre going all out to correct the mistakes of 2006 and make another success like the ps1, ps2.
All signs are pointing to the very real possibility that they're well on track to do that, too.
So you ask why playstation fans are 'over confident', because Sony are giving them every single reason possible to feel that way.
