Forums - Sales - Global 2nd March Up

Great numbers for Vita, benefit of the price cut and the release of Phantasy Star Online 2. I just think that this won´t be steady on the next weeks.

thats what a price cut will do for you. Wii U could probably use one, but i dont see Ninty doing that any time soon

Anyone else thinking that the NA numbers for Vita are so low because they're anticipating a price cut like with Japan?

Maybe, but most people that know about the price cut in Japan are core gamers who already know Sony doesn't seem to have any plans for a price cut in the west. So it could be one reason but not the main reason imo.

Why are people impressed at those Vita sales? Its absolutely abysmal outside of Japan.

THIS!

Japan sales are ok, but the other regions are terrible :/

Great Vita-numbers in Japan obviously. That makes look NA bad with only 5K. Waiting for a price-cut too? The interesting question is, which level the Vita-sales will stabilize after this spike. Hopefully above 10K, maybe 20K.

WiiU bad. Need games now.

Great Vita numbers! I'm sure someone will find a way to downplay the numbers though.

Oh, that started several days ago. :p

The really entertaining ones are the people who said a few days ago, "44k is terrible I expected closer to 70k," and now have to backtrack and say, "60k is terrible I expected closer to 100k."

60k is pretty nice. Not bad at all. Vita has some games coming, hopefully it keeps some significant momentum going.

And then even 100k+ wouldn't matter if it was still less than the 3DS. For some reason.

I'm hoping this keeps up, too. I doubt it would have anywhere near this kind of effect in the States, though--and even if it did, the numbers would still be shit at this point. *sigh*

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

Honestly, it seems that N. America just doesnt care that much about handhelds, they are quite ok with just buying 360s and PS3s.

I don't think WiiU will get much worse. Not below 20k anyway. I think this week or next will be its worst, then it will start to trend up.

Why? It's not until the end of March that it gets some games (game?) that could push it.

I would call the 18th more the middle of March. I would expect a very slight boost up then, and then a significant jump in Japan from DQX on the 30th.

The 18th has what? If it's NFS and/or Spider-Man, that won't do anything.

I was thinking more about Lego City and Monster Hunter (with bundle) than those games, but 4 titles is never a bad thing, even if they aren't huge.  I would think it would be enough to stop the decline and maybe spur a very small growth. 0 titles for 3 months then 4 titles in two days is a positive change.

For the millionth time it isn't the lack of games that is hurting the Wii U. The problem is that the console is just plain poorly designed. Which is exacerbated by the fact that Nintendo spent a good part of last generation alienating their core fan base, and actually losing the casual player base they originally pioneered. So there aren't a lot of customers left that might overlook the shortcomings of the consoles hardware and operating system.

A few games simply aren't going to redress this public perception. Nintendo would need a lot of high quality games, and more importantly not all of them catering to the same demographic. You know I have to say it even floating the suggestion that a fucking Lego game is going to help turn sales around. Has to be most absurd thing I have heard in quite some time. I don't care how desperate you are for some ray of hope. This game is not a system seller. No Lego game is a system seller, and there have been over a hundred of them made.

Monster Hunter might help in Japan, but I am seeing absolutely nothing with a firm release date that can even give Nintendo a foundation in the West. The console is just plain running out of momentum. The hardware isn't going to hold up sales until enough software arrives, and if the console bottoms out before that software gets here it will be way too late.

If you have to repeat yourself a million times you might as well stop because it would appear those to whom you're talking don't value your opinion. I certainly question your understanding of the industry when you say a lack of games is not hurting a machine that people buy to play games.

Everything is doomed! Doomed I say! Perfect time for dear uncle Scrooge to buy himself some gaming companies... which one will it be? The totally-doomed Sony? The newly doomed Nintendo? The soon to-be-doomed Microsoft? Oh who cares? I'm just gonna buy all of them! If the decline keeps up I may be able to purchase the whole industry with just my number one dime... except I won't. Because my number one dime is worth more than that. Obviously.

this may be the greatest comment I've seen on this site.  Both nostalgic and hilarious you sir have made my day.  I'm still laughing as I type lol
