I hate all the hate Mass Effect is getting. The interesting thing to note though is that the people responsible for calling the series generic get excited over jrpgs, probably the most copy pasted subgenre outside of first person shooters. Anyways, bioshock was not my cup of tea.

RPG's in general are not my cup of tea, whether they are JRPG's or western RPG's so i cant comment on either. but i played bioshock, geez i hated it

Chrono Trigger. There I said it.

Maybe it's because I played in the wrong era but that game was a yawn fest to me.

-Sonic series after the first original Sega trio. It just didn't age well. For it's time it was fun   and fast. Heck, the fast part is what sold it. Gamers love to appreciate graphics and gameplay more these days not zoom by everything.

-Gears of War. Though  I only played the first one.

-LittleBigPlanet. I can understand why it's fun, but it's just not my cup of tea.

I'm not a big fan of Mass Effect series. I'm not big on JRPG's either (allthough you are correct in your description of that genre imo). I think my problem is that I compare Mass Effect to Baldur's Gate and the other terrific Bioware titles, I'm bound to be disappointed by their other games. Bioware games have taken a turn towards almost pure action and this is taking over for their trademark writing and great characters and tactical gameplay. A shame but not unexpected, action games sell and Bioware are running a business, just like any other game developer.

World of Warcraft! Forgot about that one. For a game that is supposed to be about Social interaction, there is certainly not very much of it. It also is very procedural, and EXTREMELY repetitive. Essentially the game is purely about grinding, and there are bad storylines to give the grinding some meaning and context. While the world is huge, the adventure is flat. I think people are just addicted to performing repetitive tasks, and not interested in gaming at all.

Oh! And I was excited by the concept of a "raid." But it is not a raid at all! It is just banding a party together for a boring battle against a boss. I was disappointed.

The entire mass effect series... found the combat to be really slow and clunky and the story to be nothing special.
Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid
The Walking dead was a shockingly bad game, i was expecting so much more than what i found was essentially a point and click adventure. Boggles my mind how the game won awards.
