MS isn't going third party, they probably have more money than Nintendo and Sony combined. Sony, on the other hand, probably will if things keep going like they are now. Nintendo is making a lot of money with the 3DS, really, people who think it'll go third party are just wrong.

Since MS earns so much money from other products the only one even close to be a 3rd party is Sony,

I just want to throw this out there in case some people don't understand: going third party doesn't necessarily correlate with who has the most cash. By that logic, Activision Blizzard should start making consoles.

If Microsoft or Sony see better business decisions in not making hardware, they'll switch. It has nothing to do with them running out of cash. It has to do with smart business decisions. Same goes for Nintendo.

The fact is that if one of the three stops making consoles, that doesn't mean that they will become a 3rd party developer, for example microsoft could just drop out, and not become a 3rd party developer. Thats why I think the article is wrong, because I do not think that microsoft will become a 3rd party developer. They are the top dog, and wants to continue that way. Sony will probobly think the same. Nintendo would probably go 3rd party. But I think we have a few gens left before that.
