Microsoft is really losing touch with developers. Listen to what this guy is saying. He basically said he doesn't like the approach that Microsoft is taking. He also makes it very clear that Microsoft has communication issues with developers.

This isn't new news of course. We've been hearing for quite some time from several developers that they didn't like Microsoft's working conditions.

Microsoft has to win some support with their reveal (whenever it is) as to not let Sony runaway with a huge advantage. Sony is already winning the hearts of developers.

He didn't say Microsoft has poor communication with deveopers. He said HIS company didn't have good communication with Microsoft.

Do you want to know what this is?

This guy wanted his game to be multiplatform. Microsoft didn't return a phone call and Sony did. So now in his eyes Sony is amazing. That is how this always works with developers. I am sure Sony missed the boat on some things Microsoft got for Arcade as well.

You are making assumptions when you dont really know how it panned out. Even if what you say is true, then MS certainly did miss a trick by not collaborating with these guys - instead of a multiplat indie game now you have a timed exclusive for the ps3 (albeit with iOS and pc versions). You would think that at the least MS would want to make sure that sony didnt have any advantages even if the advantage with this game is only very very small.

Microsoft can't get everything. After Microsofts presser people will be saying man I wish Sony didn't let them do that. It happens every day in the gaming industry. I don't think anyone is losing sleep over not having this day one.

GDDR5 = Cell

I mean this in terms of fans using this as a crutch in bragging comparisons. Sigh. This is gonna get old.....just like in 2006.

At least people used Cell from DBZ to soften the blow.....this term sounds too technical to make fun of it.

MS havent even shown their specs yet and you are already trying to put down the ps4.....good luck with that. And I hope you enjoy kinect.

MS has two major afvantages over Sony:

1. They have a lot more ram. Or had, until yesterday. That advantage has been completely shot down.

2. They bought out every company doing 3D research and development during the Kinect days (which are over as soon as Kinect2 appears). So, no question, their Kinect2 will be better than Sony's Kinect (which we actually saw operating in the MediaMolecule demo. Just in case you missed it because "Kinect stuff is shit I don't care").

The Durango presentation will be all over Kinect2 (and about a hundred shooter clips), because that is all there is left currently. It could be very impressive indeed (if they don't resort to baldfaced lying like they did in the original Kinect presentation). If they only resort to showing off their 100 new shooters, I foresee trouble.

Exactly. Thats what I meant - the next xbox will likely have kinect as central to it. I dont really see much more happening other than better control of motions or voice - perhaps the promise that was made that you could scan reallife items into the game (i.e. surfboard) really will happen this time. Still...doesnt interest me.

Pretty much this (with respect to some devs). Sony seems to be reaching out to devs of all shapes and sizes.

You guys amaze me. You really do. All you need is one statement, by one indie dev and you form your opinion, totally ignoring what happened in the past 2 years.

Ask Zipper, BigBig or Sony Liverpool if Sony really reached out to all devs. All three studios were closed by Sony in the past 18 months.
Ask Thatgamecompany who were almost broke, because they signed a exclusive contract with Sony and will do games for Xbox now.
Ask SuperBot Entertainment, which are now dead, because they developed PSABR for Sony. Sony stopped the relationship with them and they are dead now. How do they feel about Sony?

On the other hand MS opened a shitload of studios, bought Twisted Pixel and BigPark Games and hired the best talent in this industry.

But yeah, there is still that one indie dev you will stick to no matter what.

Ummmm .. Did my post suggest I was basing my argument on the single comment of a dev? I think not. Check again. Notice I had with respect to some developers, and I stand by that.

Uhhh ... your point? It seems quite moot and your argument is disingenuous. Don't get me wrong it is horrible when any dev has to close down, but it happens and will continue to happen irrespective of the party behind them. If the games don't sell then it is inevitable these things will happen. Also, didn't Sony absorb a lot of those guys in other studios? (That was rhetorical).

Thatgamecompany went broke, so because their games didn't sell as well as they would have liked is that an instance of Sony mistreating them? Didn't they thank Sony on a multitude of occasions for their assistance on a plethora of things? Heck they even thanked them on Spike TV when they accepted the award for Journey. One can argue that the fame their obtained from making games on the PS3 will yield dividends later. They are extremely well known now.

Now we are going from relationships with third party studious to a first party studio buying 'talent'. Focus your argument instead of tangentalizing.

Nice way to cherry pick points by the way. I guess you forgot to include events like developers leaving Microsoft for ‘greener’ pastures (including people from RARE) and devs leaving their studious because of a lack of innovation. Why isn’t Bunjie making games exclusive to Microsoft again? Don’t get me wrong none of the big three are perfect, they all have their issues with respect to third parties, but I think the point was relatively speaking Sony is better than Microsoft.

It is not about about a few developers leaving, like you mentioned with Rare (Or Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch developers joined MS), it is about closing entire studios. And no, Sony did not just relocate most of the devs. They offered some of them a new position, but they did not absorb a lot of them.

Imagine you are in the situation of a developer of Zipper and you actually get an offer from Sony to work. You can chose between bein unemployed or work in a new city miles away. This is still a very bad situation to be in.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

This is the opinion of one, small developer. It's nice to hear and all but it's just one guy.

The other telling comment in this passage was "leaked Durango specs". This means that haven't had any actual contact with MS and the game never even had a chance of being on Durango. They decided they wanted to work with Sony, and that's fine, but without complete information on what the other side is doing.

Given the overall response to the Sony conference, I doubt MS's position has changed much from last week. The conference was fine but it's not like Sony knocked it out of the ballpark, despite what some people would like you to believe.

There is way more hate articles for ps4 on v g please! Don't give me there is More luv for ps4. My question to Xbox fans are everyone jumped to Xbox when it came out like a bad ex girl friend who left u for another guy. I have been a Sony fan from inception never going to Xbox site to troll. To see all the hate Sony gets is ridiculous, but it's ppls nature to hate. Sony has cahonas doing what there doing and I think they will succeed. When you ask questions and Try to learn from your mistakes you will eventually succeed!

I think the point is that Sony is willing to encourage indie devs to work on the system and one can infer that they are having a lot of discussion with them (not solely based on this article, but others).

I dunno, my reading of that interview, at least, is that while they won't say "no" they're not going to go out of their way to assist the smaller developers either. Telling folks to develop for a separate platform because they can't afford the buy-in does not strike me as encouragement.

Well I guess it is subject to interpretation. I got the sense that they find every developer is important and want as many of them on board. He seemed to suggest more than simply giving them permission or not saying 'no' in relation to working on the platform.

Also, it's not unprecedented for Sony to give developers the tools they need at a subsidized cost. They have done this before with the PS3. I cannot say if they will do this with the PS4, but it is not outside of the realm of possibility. As for PSM, look at it this way, Sony is trying to erect an ecosystem and getting devs to work on the different platforms is a start. So if they don’t have the financial wherewithal for working on the PS4, then that doesn’t mean they won’t have options since they have an alternative platform to work with in the mean time (PSM).

lol...another thread talking about RAM being the key to PS4 success.

RAM is the new Cell processor for the upcoming gen. Unlimited untapped potential will come from this PS4 RAM on these forums for many years to come.

In reality though...

Pretty dumb thing to say... imo. RAM is the new Cell? Perhaps in terms Sony Fanboys bragging about specs, but nothing else.

More RAM is something Developers really want from all platforms. They wanted it with the PS3/360 and they want it with the new consoles. They got it with the PS4. Thats why so many have already come out and spoke how great it is. They also wanted a platform that was easy to make games for.

Who asked for The Cell?

Odd because when all specs were still rumored, Xbox fans were more than a little happy about the 4GB advantage the Next Xbox was rumored to have... even if it was slower RAM. So now RAM doesn't mean anything?

In reality, RAM certainly matters. If the people who are making the Games are happy about it, then the Gamers should be also.
