I like the concave joysticks, but they are still too close together. I'll have to hold it in my hand to really judge it though. The "trigger's still aren't triggers and I think that's a mistake. I'll never use the "share button" I honestly don't see the point such a feature. I like that the touch pad is small so it will be a rarely used optional thing. The overall shape of the controller looks rounder which I like, but again I'll have to hold it in my hand to see if it even comes close the ergonomics of the Xbox 360 controller.

It's for people who have friends jkjkjk

I know you joking so I'm just going to add that when I play games with friends I PLAY games WITH friends. If they're playing another game I may cross game chat, but I don't ever see myself pressing that share button.

well, that's what a wiiU is for

It looks... odd. I don't like it how they went back the the disconnected D-Pad. Something like the Vita's would have been much nicer. It doesn't look as cheap as the prototype, but something about the design throws me off. By the way, where are the Start/Select buttons? o.O

All the D-Pads are connected...  That's why when you press left, or down, the opposite button rises.  To me, the Vita is fine...  I don't see why a little peice of plastic ovet the button to make it seem like 4 separate buttons matters.  Either-or... fine by me.

Probably because those of use that have being gaming since the first D-Pad on the Game & Watch series like the way a real D-pad feels. The Playstation D-Pad may work in a similar way, but it doens't feel the same at all. The best D-Pads are on the Sega Saturn, Genesis, SNES and Gameboy. Instead of coming up with different D-Pads MS and Sony should just completely rip one of those off and do it right.

I wish they moved the left joystick to the top left like the 360 controller. It always bugs me right away for the first 20 minutes or so when playing a game on PS3 on where my thumb has to rest. It's not a natural resting position.

I have seen this argument many times, but it is not logical. If this was true you would feel discomfort in your left thumb when using the 360. The fact some people prefer the configuration probably has more to do with muscle memory rather than it being a truism. Your hands  respond more naturally to either configuration given enough use. In all, the notion of it being natural is laughable at best. Otherwise the natural controller configuration would be the Wii U's version.

I barely play on the consoles.  Most of my time is on computers or handhelds.

Recently played Xenoblade and Tales of Graces F though.   Xenoblade the controller fit like a glove.  My left hand rested comfortably on the numchuk and i could put one hand hanging over the edge of the couch while the other inside my pouch in my sweater.  Whatever I wanted.  had no discomfort at all.

I picked up PS3 controller and found myself not liking the left stick position.  It felt like I had to stretch my thumb a little.  I found myself constantly resting my thumb back on the d-pad.  But if you played the game you would know that I can't move at all with the D-pad, its essentially worthless in that game.  All it does is let me switch characters.  After a couple hours I didn't notice it, but did again the following day ect.

I pick up a 360 controller and just rest my finger where they will.  don't even try anything and it rest perfectly on the buttons for right thumb and stick for left thumb.  The two most used things in a game.  no stretching involved.  Now the 360 d-pad sucks ass, but that's not the story.  It's about comfort and placement of buttons.  not the comfort of the controller, but the comfort of where you fingers naturally rest while holding it.  There is no stretching involved with the 360 controller.

Now seeing as the entire gaming world seems to be FPS fans these days you will probably bring up the right stick being in a bad spot or same spot on both.  Well I don't play them very often or at all.  Only a few times with friends for fun, locally.  So my right stick is only used briefly when I quick flick it to rotate camera slightly if need be.

So muscle memory?  sorry but thats a piss poor excuse.  I don't want to have to train my hands to feel comfortable.  They shoud just feel comfortable.  I don't have a wii u, so i have no idea how that feels.  Picked it up at best buy once, but with their little strap holding it in place on the counter it makes it impossible to really get a feel for it.  But I own every console, besides Wii U, and I play on them on.  So i have no muscle memory, and don't plan on it.  I just notice that its uncomforatble initially every time I pick up a ps3 controller.  The classic controller for wii sucks too.  the gamecube controller is awesome.  The 360 controller is great.  The numchuck and wiimote is great.  the dualshock controllers have the sticks in wrong place.   I shouldn't have to use something for hours on end to be comfortable.

Why would I read such a long post on thus subject?

But, I am glad you speak for the world on what is a natural position of the thumb.

No non. They don't have to be in the same room. I'm just saying that if I'm going to play games with friends than we are all going to play the same game together. I don't want watch a friend play a game and I don't want anybody watching me play a game. That share button is not for me. Maybe the kids today are into "Let's play" junk, but not me.

I believe I used the word I during all of my postings.

don't know where you got the world from.  Each paragraph is describing a different consoles controller if you didn't bother reading.

So in summary I play many consoles and am not going to force my hand to "learn/adapt" for the Dualshock controller because you say I should.  The dualshock is the only controller that I am not comfortable holding.

For something to be "natural" means it applies to everyone. Wow!!!

I am done with this stupid subject.

Because I don't own classic consoles?  No excuses, they're right there under my username (some of them).  But, that changes nothing.  The PS d-pad is just as much 1 physical button as the genesis.  I still own two working genesis consoles with 35 games, all should be in my game list.  When I'm playing on that, PS3, or whatever, it makes no difference...  The only ones I even notice is the 360, because of constant accidental movements with the D-pad, and the vita.. because it clicks.

Any other time, the controller isn't a thought.  SSFII works fine on a 6 button genesis controller, just as PS3 controllers are fine too, unless you're trying to triangle jump in mvc2, or backdash in Tekken.

Maybe it's just me, but, I must say, the D-Pad on the Saturn was great.  Vita too.

In your original responce you brought up muscle memory.  Meaning that you knew that it was not natural.  If something is natural, then there is no muscle memory needed.

Now that I see it up close I actually like it a lot.
