It looks... odd. I don't like it how they went back the the disconnected D-Pad. Something like the Vita's would have been much nicer. It doesn't look as cheap as the prototype, but something about the design throws me off. By the way, where are the Start/Select buttons? o.O

All the D-Pads are connected...  That's why when you press left, or down, the opposite button rises.  To me, the Vita is fine...  I don't see why a little peice of plastic ovet the button to make it seem like 4 separate buttons matters.  Either-or... fine by me.

Probably because those of use that have being gaming since the first D-Pad on the Game & Watch series like the way a real D-pad feels. The Playstation D-Pad may work in a similar way, but it doens't feel the same at all. The best D-Pads are on the Sega Saturn, Genesis, SNES and Gameboy. Instead of coming up with different D-Pads MS and Sony should just completely rip one of those off and do it right.

Because I don't own classic consoles?  No excuses, they're right there under my username (some of them).  But, that changes nothing.  The PS d-pad is just as much 1 physical button as the genesis.  I still own two working genesis consoles with 35 games, all should be in my game list.  When I'm playing on that, PS3, or whatever, it makes no difference...  The only ones I even notice is the 360, because of constant accidental movements with the D-pad, and the vita.. because it clicks.

Any other time, the controller isn't a thought.  SSFII works fine on a 6 button genesis controller, just as PS3 controllers are fine too, unless you're trying to triangle jump in mvc2, or backdash in Tekken.

Maybe it's just me, but, I must say, the D-Pad on the Saturn was great.  Vita too.
