You can use Wubi to install Ubuntu, saves you from having to format things, etc, etc. Then if you don't like it you can just uninstall it from Windows.

Linux is great, I use it myself and have no longer any windows. But from a gaming-perspective not - it doesn't get the games windows gets. That's why I became a console-gamer in the first place, because I wanted the advantages of Linux, while playing some decent games. I hope the gaming situation on Linux starts to get better with Steam.
