Yeah, they're way ahead of ya on that one.

Plus, from what they announced on the last ND, it was pretty obvious that E3 would be the next event where they would announce Wii U's post launch gameplan. They've already told us to expect Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and Super Mario at the conference. From this 3DS centric ND, it seems like they're once again going to give their console the spotlight in June (maybe they'll give the 3DS a smaller conference like they did last year).

They should have seen the drought coming long ago.

"Hey, guys, we've got bugger all Wii U games set up for the first half of 2013!"

"Oh, just leave it to rot and use that spare adrenaline shot on our portable that's already thriving!"

"Shouldn't we at least show some trailers of some of the Wii U games we have in production so Wii U owners have something to look forward to?"

MH3U and Lego City in late March. Pikmin 3 in April. Wii Fit U in May... the rest I forgot about.

If you actually paid attention, the shown 3DS games are all done by Nintendo's B-tier teams. Except Pokémon, but that studio doesn't work on home console games anyway. Pretty much the entirety of Nintendo's inhouse studios is focused on Wii U titles and Nintendo made it a point in the last Direct that they won't throw quality control overboard, so Wii U owners will have to be patient.

So they have all their big teams on Wii U... and they don't even show us what they're doing? How are we supposed to get hyped when we don't know what Retro is making, we know nothing about pretty much anything except X and Pikmin?

I didn't expect the announcement of the next Zelda or Metroid, but come on, a gameplay trailer for Yoshi's Yarn or something would have been nice. Show us, don't tell us, that good stuff is coming.

*sigh*

So because the Wii U is struggling they should just ignore the 3DS and the games coming for it? How will that make anything better?

i'm not saying abandon the 3DS, I'm saying it's silly to give just 10% of your hyping to the system that needs it more.

From the standpoint of a diehard nintendo fan or one who only has a Nintendo console (3DS specifically) i'm guessing this was a decent direct. Lots of 3DS games, downloadable titles for the 3DS eshop. You can clearly see where Nintendo is concentrating their focus on.

For a run of the mill Nintendo fan like myself who has other consoles, this direct did not have any games that screamed out "Buy me"! The only game I plan to purchase this quarter for either my 3DS or Wii U was not even mentioned (Etrian Odyssey 4, i'm sure Atlus is happy about that) and while I prefer a console version, mario golf looks good also, but thats about it.

Good one, Train wreck. That's like Jim Harbaugh saying that he couldn't be happier about the Ravens' Super Bowl win.

Im sure deep down Jim was happy for his brother, but he knows he has to keep the asshole brother mentality.

I have the credientials to be a run of the mill Nintendo fan (from being a Nintendo homer back in the late 80's early 90s) but I feel that they should be critized for their actions over the last 4 years because I know they can do better.  Feel free to add me on your Wii U friend list and 3DS list, we can be buddies!

The trailer for X was exactly what we need more of.

Waiting until E3 for any more big Wii U news will make the console seem uninteresting as hell. A lot of momentum could be lost.

Why don't use Americans get Inazuma Eleven?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Oh I somewhat agree, but right now all signs are pointing towards "Just wait until June guys! You know we're good for it!" (and they are, but it is a while off...). Despite what they've said about not repeating the 3DS' launch issues... It's the 3DS launch all over again.
