The Wii-U controller should have been the system: Nintendo should have made a Nintendo tablet. Maybe with a receiver so you can play wirelessly on a tv.
do you think nintendo only made the WiiU gamepad because they couldnt come up with a better idea? | |||

and my point is i feel that they did just do it to differentiate themselfs. a lesson nintendo learned last gen was that the best way to compete with MS and sony is to be different |
If this was a lesson Nintendo learned from last gen then it wouldn't be something they just put together. They had a reason to make this, to be different, like you said. They also, obviously, thought about what they were doing with it. (Project Cafe was announced in early 2011, that was the Wii U.) That would go against your opinion of them just throwing this Gamepad-thing together.
But yes, I was being sarcastic and slightly trollish towards Nintendo.

Not necessarily. Wii U is fully compatible with all Wii Remotes and accessories. So every single Wii U game could conceivably be made to work with the Wii remote if the developer chooses to. I was just telling you the reason Nintendo went with the idea for the GamePad instead of expanding on motion control and moving more in that direction. |
i think you misunderstood me. i asking if they decided to ditch motion controllers. but ditch the concept of making a new crazy futuristic controller like they did with the Wii

News Flash: The only reason anyone does anything is because they didn't have a better (feasible) idea.
Or they would do the better idea.
So this thread is basically saying absolutely nothing.

i think people are taking me to literally when i said slap a touch screen to a controller, maybe i should edit that lol. and let me put it this way, Wii blew everyone away from the start with Wii sports. lets be honest WiiU didnt, it feels like they are still trying to figure out how to make interesting idea's with the gamepad and thats what im trying to say, they didnt come up with a new compelling idea like the WiiMote so they went with an old existing one (like another user pointed out) and try to make the best out of it

source? that would be awesome if that's true... so wii u has been planned long time ago? |
I read it a while ago and can't find the source. (I know it sounds suspicious but I'm not making it up)
They were looking into the Gamepad a while ago around the same time DS released. They thought it would be too expensive and never used it until now. I could be wrong about the details but I do remember reading about it

sorry for the confusion ill try to explain it. you said "In other words, they deliberately decided to NOT make some crazy, futuristic controller" i replied with "so your saying they decided not to do the thing that made the wii so succesful?" you thought i was talking about motion controllers specifically but i was talking about the concept of creating a new futuristic controller. get me?
