They need to try. Japan might just be lost to nintendo in the handheld market, and if they do the same stuff with the wii u, they will claim the console market too. Europe is already sony's. America is the one they need to go for.

Wow just wow!!! Hoe can one not see the humour in his post!! The Xbox must indeed be very strong with this one........ OT: maybe Sony wants to retake some of that lost marketshare back in the US. Let's see if this will help! Where did Nintendo announce the Wii U by the way? |
Don't worry buddy. I haven't forgot our bet and it looks like I'm going to win unless Sony shipped over 8 million PS3 this quarter.

Your comment has nothing to do with i said earlier!!!
As long as they have outshipped the 360 all is good ;)
To what does Europe count?
This is their strongest territory and their biggest fanbase thanks to the different needs in variety of genres.
Japan is their sure win at the console market...Not talking about Handhelds.Nintendo won't stand a chance at the CONSOLE Battle when 3rd Party is going again Sony/M$ only cause the hardware differences are to big to justify ports.
The USA is as long as CoD and Halo are doing good lost territory and wasted money.
At the end it will be again PS4+PC+WiiU(emulator) over the whole gen to get every good thing to play.
At this point in time in the current gen over 80M home consoles have been sold in Europe. If I were Sony I'd go all out in my strongest territory. Why struggle for a stronghold with the odds against you in NA when domination is a lot more probable in a similarly sized market?

Why not just get an actual Wii U? Correct me if I'm wrong but I doubt Wii U emulation will be available for some time. And if they're games you want to play, why not support the people who made them by buying the console and games?

hahahahahahah omg this is totally my sig now best freaking comment in history!
I just don't see any way they could "win" the U.S. Does anyone here really believe that they'll spend more in advertising in the U.S. than Microsoft? That they will come out with a new IP that will be more popular than Halo? If they couldn't even do it near the end of this generation when Microsoft was basically saving the bulk of their games for next generation why would they be able to do it with the PS4?
Anyone that thinks the PS4 is going to take the the U.S. is just wishful thinking and hoping for some miracle game or that the strategy that hasn't worked for Sony in the past might suddenly start working now. If anything I think Sony is going to lose more ground in Europe to Microsoft than Microsoft would ever lose to Sony in the U.S.
The reason why is because unlike North America where both the Xbox and Playstation brands are very mature there are some European countries where the Xbox brand has almost no presence and as Microsoft establishes the brand more in those countries their sales in them will increase.

So, just to be clear: - When Sony wins it's because they deserve it, but when others win they don't. - Casual gamers are second class citizens and don't deserve a say in which console is the most successful. Sounds a bit elitist to me. |
just look at which franchises sold the most during PS2 and what people were talking about. It was GTA, DMC, Ratchet, Jak, Sly, Madden, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, God of War. The only casual one of those would be Madden. Now look at Xbox and everyone's playing Kinect, COD, 2k basketball, Halo, Gears, Forza, and Madden. 3 of those could be considered hardcore and they are they are all made by MS to be fair, but Sony never charged for online or had to advertise the crap out of things (when they tried it was just weird commercials). They were awesome because their system offered more exclusives and more value (multimedia and free online) than xbox ever has.
