I just don't see any way they could "win" the U.S. Does anyone here really believe that they'll spend more in advertising in the U.S. than Microsoft? That they will come out with a new IP that will be more popular than Halo? If they couldn't even do it near the end of this generation when Microsoft was basically saving the bulk of their games for next generation why would they be able to do it with the PS4? Anyone that thinks the PS4 is going to take the the U.S. is just wishful thinking and hoping for some miracle game or that the strategy that hasn't worked for Sony in the past might suddenly start working now. If anything I think Sony is going to lose more ground in Europe to Microsoft than Microsoft would ever lose to Sony in the U.S. The reason why is because unlike North America where both the Xbox and Playstation brands are very mature there are some European countries where the Xbox brand has almost no presence and as Microsoft establishes the brand more in those countries their sales in them will increase.

You gots tha be kiddin me right? Halo 4 just came out, another Gears comes out in the next few weeks. So how exactly were they saving their games for next gen?
The reason NA gamers went mostly with 360 was because it was cheaper than the PS3, and then it got Kinect as a 2nd boost. If PS4 and 720 launch at the same price around the same time, the race between them in NA is gonna be much more close. Kinect 2 won't help the 720 as much as Kinect 1 did. It needs to be groundbreaking and not just better tracking for it to have any effect.
Europe is Sony territory, eventhough PS3 came out 1.5 years later costing €200 more than 360 it managed to outsell it.

They have a ton of studios working on games and the majority are obviously for the next Xbox. Add to that the second party games that have been pushed back and studios that we know are likely working on games for the next Xbox like Remedy, Ruffian, etc. There has obviously been a major shift in development to the next Xbox, the silence this year so far makes that pretty obvious.
As for the 360 winning North America because it was cheaper, that was probably true in the first half of this generation but the second half shows that it is no longer the case. I remember when Sony fans said that the 360 would be crushed in North America as the PS3 came down in price, well guess what the exact opposite has happened in North America and the 360 is actually gaining marketshare.

Those ton of studios haven't made 1 game, we have no idea what they're making or how big the projects are. Gears and Halo are the only Microsoft franchises that sell tons, and both of these come out just as the Nextbox is going to be released. All I can think of that could be significant are Forza and Fable.
The 360 was always cheaper than PS3 in NA, PS3 was actually very close to 360 numbers in NA back in 2009 after PS3 slim came out, but 360 reaffirmed its position with the 360S and Kinect launch.
This time however both will launch the same time with comparable prices, this time PS4 will be up to speed right out of the gate rather than catching up. Neither Halo nor Gears will come out in 2014 except maybe for a Halo 2 Anniversary edition while PS4 might have both GT6 and Uncharted 4.
