Forums - Nintendo - Wii owners, is it our fault that the Wii U isn't getting better third party support?

I think it will... The same goes for Monster Hunter. You could use that same argument on ALL 3rd party series that don't sell well on Nintendo consoles; "well, Nintendo gamers just don't like that series" - but if this holds true for A LOT of franchises, then we have to assume those kind of games don't sell on Nintendo consoles because the market isn't interested in those kind of experiences

I agree with the bolded.

If a few franchises from third parties don't sell well on Wii U then that just mean most people don't like that franchise.

Yeah, problem is though that no 3rd party franchise, except party games, sold too well on the Wii... And that's the problem. Going by the argument we've just laid out, that would mean Nintendo Gamers don't like 3rd party core games...

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

And that's why they never sell!

I hope like everyone buys Bayonetta 2. Those are the kind of games I want to continue seeing on Wii U.

You better buy over 9000 copies for yourself then ;)

j/k

Unfortunately, I don't see how this will be a big seller; but hopefully I'm wrong

So, then IT IS our fault wht 3rd parties never bothered with the Wii?! :O You better tell Rol this! We've found the answer!!!

Nintendo should have downgraded their game's quality so we can consider Imagine Babyz and Cartoon FIFA good options.

I think it has a chance. The controversy will be it's greatest advertisement, and it's published by Nintendo. It seems Nintendo fans will buy any game that's published by Nintendo.

I see a lot of importance stressed on Bayonetta 2, why not games such as Rayman Legends, Lego City?

They're 3rd party too aren't they?

It isnt our fault, its nintendos. Microsoft and sony went with a similar achitecture and control schemes that made it easier to port between the two. Nintendo went their own way and they benefitted from the approach, but third parties did not. To maximise sells, developers need to get on as many platforms as possible and nintendo was just too different to make it an easy thing for developers to do.

Seems like nintendo will probably be in the same boat again. Hopefully they can get some love soon, but who knows...

You won't see them in the same boat with the Wii U thanks to Nintendo's forward thinking with regards to their choice of GPU and architecture. It's going to be much easier to port to and from the Wii U, PS4 and 720 than it currently is to port between the Wii U, PS3 and 360. And you'll probably find the Wii U being the lead platform for multiplatform titles if publishers want a Wii U SKU. My reasoning behind this is quite simple. The Wii U is going to have the largest marketshare, it's going to be the least powerful of all 3 consoles this gen, it's got a standard rendering pipeline and a similar architecture to the other two. The second in that list is the most important of the lot. It makes sense because doing things the other way around means you could end up with a game too large in scale for the market leader to handle. That's why the vast majority of 6th gen games had the PS2 as the lead supplying up-ports to the PC, Xbox and Gamecube.

When we look at the facts, we see that nine of the ten best third party games of the seventh generation were on the Wii. About 20 of the top 25 and roughly 40 of the top 50.

Anyone else wondering what games these are?
