Hi all,

A question got me wondered when my little brother wanted to buy a Wii U.  If I were told this years way back, I wouldn't hesitate to say: "Yes, let's buy it". But now, it's like: "Mmm, let's see what are the other choices".

I love Ninty so much because these are games we grew up with. Who doesn't love Mario, Metroid, Donkey Kong or Zelda? Hell, even Pokémon!!. But this formula has been cooked and recooked over and over again. This seem to be working for them, as new generations grow to love them. But what about the old ones who have seen it all. Nintendo is about magic, making games socially playable but there seems to miss a formula for me to make it like it more.

For the first time in my whole live, I thought of buying a PS3 because of the games, I've seen some incredible games like Metal Gear, Mass Effect, God of War.. Games that as developers say can't be run on a Nintendo console.

But as my brother picked, the Wii U won and got Black Ops II and Mass Effect 3.

have you ever guys, especially Mario fans, thought of it just for a glimpse? Did I make a great choice? Let me know.

I think, in the end, your brother made the right choice because, though Mario may be recooked, his 3D iterations are always mind-blowing. I have not been let down once, not once. Zelda has been not as satisfying lately, but the hope exists that the U one will be epic just like we've always wanted. There are also great exclusives on the U that you will never find on the other two.

Having said that, if you're not a Mario, Zelda or Metroid fan, and are not a fan of more casual games, then I don't see much reason to get the U honestly, unless you're into the media center, e-shop stuff, but apparently Ninty dropped the ball on that (I heard it's pretty sluggish).

So I think you need to do some soul searching and ask yourself, as a Nintendo fan, why God of War is more interesting to you than Mario Galaxy, and wonder if Nintendo will steer the franchise in a direction you prefer.

It sounds to me like you love nintendo games too mcuh to do that. While the other consoles have good games, i think you will feel bad when Nintendo brings out their new games and you cant play them.

I personally am making the same decision in the coming months. Wii U is the logical decision as it has a future in front of it, but the PS3 has quite a library of games to pick out from at the moment, but will end this year.
If you can only buy one, then you made the right choice in my opinion. That realisation might only come at the end of the year though. :)

I was a Nintendo fan in the 80/90's But then came the PS1 and i forgot about it.

I would go insane, if i had to use a nintendo only platform for my entire life

I find it's usually not the same formula though. That's why it doesn't get old for me; Nintendo is constantly reinventing their franchises with new ideas. Mario Galaxy isn't the same as Mario 64. Metroid Prime 3 isn't the same as Super Metroid. Skyward Sword isn't the same as Majora's Mask. Kirby's Epic Yarn isn't the same as Kirby's Dreamland.

This is all assuming you could only pick one atm.

Basil's right. If you really want to experience everything video games have to offer, you need to buy more than one system.

But if you only have enough time and money for a single system, I think Wii U sounds like a good pick for you :)

wrong choice!
lots of great ps3 games to come and lots of old great ps3 games waiting to be played and even the old games seems new to you as you don't own a ps3 and no recookedbecause you've never played them.Only few good nintendo u games this-not one of them seem to be real great .
Buying a ps3 in 2013
wait for good wii u games, playing ps3 and buy wii u in 2014
wait for good ps460 ,play wii u games and buy a ps4 or xbo361 in 2015.

if you like to wait, wii u is the right choice now.

I grew up with Nintendo and Sega was my secondary console, but when Sony came that was all she wrote. Microsoft made it worse. They offer to a more adult stable audience. Nintendo will never lose my respect because they are responsible for why I game, but I grew out of them.
