While my love for Nintendo has waned a bit, my love for both Sony and Microsoft has waned just as much (if not moreso).

Thank god for PC gaming.

Thank god for valve. Their gateway to digital downloads are the reason PC gaming is even holding a candle to consoles.

everything you said is the reason i'm a Sony, Ninty, PC fan.

i grew up on PC, but found my way into the world of home consoles with Nintendo.

when the 6th gen. started i went straight to the GC., but soon found myself backing Sony, and with Sony creating new ip at every turn. how could i possibly stick with tried and true Nintendo?

simply put, i couldn't!!

i'm re-experiencing Nintendo, but i'm not committing to Wiiu just yet.

take my advice, and experience the power of PS3. the difference will be seen, and you'll enjoy every minute of it i'm sure.

Sony wasn't in the new IP business in the PS2/GC days really. It was resting on most of its IPs from the PS1 era. Some new IPs were R&C, J&D, Sly, but Nintendo also had its share of new IPs in the cube days (Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem (which was never realeased in the west before that iirc)).

I like catching people off guard :)

I grew up with the NES and SNES but switched sides with the PS1. Looking back, that's a decision I would make again in a heartbeat. The PS1 opened up entire new worlds for me, with more complex storylines and characters, a greater expanse of genres, and more games that engaged my own imagination. The Nintendo philosophy of making everything but the game-play simplistic, and their concentration on platforming, just didn't mesh with what I wanted out of gaming. Final Fantasy 7 pushed me over the edge, yes, but it was all the other games that made me not regret the jump in the slightest.

I like variety, I like a multitude of genres, and I like games with a compelling narrative. I absolutely feel like I've made the right choice this generation going with the PS3 and PC, especially given how awesome PS+ has turned out to be and how many excellent games are available on PSN (playing Persona3 FES right now and loving it). Keep in mind, though, that I got burned out on platforming on the NES/SNES and was never a Mario fan even when I was a Nintendo fan.

you really haven't been following me have you? some friend you are.

PS2 was my first real jump into being a hardcore gamer. i really didn't know what a genre was last gen. i just new there were shooters, fighting games, and racing games. i was essentially dum before this gen., but what i know of Ninty and Sony is the difference between the new ip and old, and that is this gen.

Similar for me, but I'm glad I didn't make the jump. Though I didn't have my beloved Final Fantasy, Megaman and Castlevania, I got FF on my PC thanks to Eidos and MM I missed :(

But in the mean time, I got to enjoy OoT, one of the best games ever made, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Kart, Mario Tennis (my fav sports game of all time), Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur day and a bunch of high-quality games I would have missed out on, OoT being the biggest one. And I still got to play FF. When FFIX came out, I gave in.
