I grew up with the NES and SNES but switched sides with the PS1. Looking back, that's a decision I would make again in a heartbeat. The PS1 opened up entire new worlds for me, with more complex storylines and characters, a greater expanse of genres, and more games that engaged my own imagination. The Nintendo philosophy of making everything but the game-play simplistic, and their concentration on platforming, just didn't mesh with what I wanted out of gaming. Final Fantasy 7 pushed me over the edge, yes, but it was all the other games that made me not regret the jump in the slightest.

I like variety, I like a multitude of genres, and I like games with a compelling narrative. I absolutely feel like I've made the right choice this generation going with the PS3 and PC, especially given how awesome PS+ has turned out to be and how many excellent games are available on PSN (playing Persona3 FES right now and loving it). Keep in mind, though, that I got burned out on platforming on the NES/SNES and was never a Mario fan even when I was a Nintendo fan.
