Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is silent for a reason

Which doesn't change the point that the Wii U has a similar level of "core" first-party gaming to the Wii at the same time period.

Also, Wii had Super Paper Mario within its first year, which, like Pikmin 3, was "geared towards gamers in its design and level of quality".

Noo, I meant hobbyists. Super Paper mario is not in and of itself a hobbyist-aimed game, though it may attract them (imho).

And the Wii wouldn't have had the same core focus as the U will have by the time Pikmin 3 is out. It would have Pikmin 3, Bayonetta, Wonderful101, and then assuming OP is true, some more core games to counter the PS720 launch.

I'm not quite clear on how you delineate "hobbyist-aimed game", then. I'd argue that SPM was targetted more at the "core" than Pikmin 3 will be. Note that I'm not saying this of all Paper Mario games, just SPM.

And I don't consider the Nintendo-published third-party games to be part of Nintendo's direct focus, but part of their effort to get third-party support.

Well, Nintendo's involvement in the Bayo thing makes it hard to see it as a purely 3rd party offering, but also a Nintendo offering, above and beyond a Nintendo initiative to get 3rd parties on board.

Platinum Games had partially developed the game, but couldn't find a publisher. Nintendo said "sure, we'll publish it, if you make it a Wii U exclusive". To me, that's Nintendo improving their relationship with third parties.

Nintendo is always silent. The reason they're silent is because they're Nintendo.

C'mon now we all know the reason they are silent is their entire translation team is expediting Pokemon X and Y.

Wow, that's cold. Blizzaga Magic Burst.

There are at least two Nintendo Direct's inbetween now and Nintendo's E3 conference.  Between these three events, I think we'll all be very satisfied with the lineup they're putting together for the end of the year and into the next.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

When they called the last one Pokemon direct I was hopeful of a regular Nintendo Direct this month.  Still hoping.

Clearly, they are working hard on WiiU MusicU - with new exciting advancements - like shaking the tablet like a tambourine, tapping it like a triangle, and rubbing it in the middle for a Gong sound.

It would twice as epic as Wii Music!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!

If they go by their 2012 schedule it'll be around mid-February and then again in late April.  In just enough time to tease us with some ridiculous stuff that make us pull our hair out in anticipation for E3.

The most recent full Direct was December 4th so I'd have to assume mid-February seems like more than enough time.
