Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is silent for a reason

I expect Nintendo Direct to be bigger than E3 this year, like last year. I prefer that above just being waiting for a particular date like E3. Pokemon X and Y took everyone by surprise, and I like that. I prefer to wait for a game for about 6 months at most, instead of being teased for 2 years.

I got a PS3 for FFXIII and Versus......FF13 was unlucky number for me, didn't like the movies on rail feel.  Versus ...is an example of being teased way too early.

Pokemon X n Y is the right model.  Save for the smaller Japan centric games, Nintendo needs to show more respect to non Japanese customers.  Waiting for a year just to hear that a game might be localized, then waiting some more is highly disrespectful.

I don't think we'll see a Zelda until 2015. Nintendo shouldn't play all cards at the start of the gen.

I don't think so, personally.  I think at latest 2014.  The reason why is because it's pretty much confirmed that Nintendo has been working on a 3DS Zelda game for some time now, and they don't always take 5-6 years like they did with Skyward Sword.

Well of course they will hold back some anouncements for e3to steal some of the thunder from X Box 360 and pS4. Will it work?

I think Nintendo got afraid to hype the games in advance - like they did with 3DS (Luigi`s Mansion, Kid Icarus, for example).
In 2007, Nintendo released some big games for Wii: Mario Party 8, Wii Fit, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Super Paper Mario, Mario Strikers Charged and Metroid Prime 3.

So far, the biggest titles are Pikmin 3 and Lego City. Here`s hoping the next Nintendo Direct announces some big titles like Splinter Cell and GTA V.

Let`s see what Nintendo has in store for this year. But given it will have to compete with one or two new consoles, it will need some big titles.

Isn't Bayonetta 2 expected to release this year? There's The Wonderful 101 and Rayman Legends as well. They're sure to announce a few big hitters at E3 as well.

It is. 1st halp of this year, i believe.
My fear is that the big hitters will arrive only on the second half and i`m honestly not seeing another mario so soon. If there`s a Zelda, my guess is that it`s for 3DS. Mario Kart? Super Smash Brothers? Donkey Kong Returns 2?
At least they will have the next Call of Duty and of all the new generation platforms, it will have the biggest userbase which will be good for Nintendo.

Wii pratically didn`t it because it was sold out after launch, but Wii U needs big titles and it needs them fast.
The next best month for Wii U is only in March.

As much as I hate to say it, I don't see sales improving without a $50+ price cut, which is impossible at this point. Imo, in order to compete with the older consoles, Wii U needs to have at least one solid exclusive per month, and it needs to get most multiplats for the rest of the year. I do think it's also in desperate need of a new Pokemon title to go along with X&Y, or a new Mario Kart, neither of which I expect to release until sometime next year.

A price cut would be even worse: it would only increase losses on the console and probably for a longtime. Not to mention that, if lack of original games and multiplats are the problem, Nintendo could risk it not being enough to help sales.

I don`t know how development is going on 3rd parties, but if their new to be released projects started way before Wii U development began, then Wii U might not get all of them.

Now, all Nintendo can do is bite the bullet until March and prepare a good 2Q, because the summer period is always worse.
Also, would be good if Nintendo had some plab B in order like N64 or GC remaked ready to fill some holes.

Honestly, i`m surprised Nintendo didn`t announce a Pokemon Stadium or something when X&Y were announced. The Wii Battle Revolution game went on to sell a million and a half.
The only game i see Nintendo having ready for the holidays is Mario Kart. That or the Retro game.

Mario Kart will be this year.

So will Mario 3D from EAD Tokyo (3+ years since Mario Galaxy 2, the main team hasn't just been sitting there doing nothing).

And probably Wii Sports U.

That's likely their "big three" for fall 2013.

What about the game from Retro (whatever it is)?

There´s also that rumor about a new Diddy Kong Racing..do you think it´s true?

I meant a Zelda for WiiU. A 3DS Zelda might come sooner than we think.

anybody remember MGS2 when it was shown at e3 and the dreamcast, i expect that happen to nintendo at e3, insiders are saying launch games will blow away current gen, all the focus will bo nextbox and ps4, nintendo should announce and show everything they have now, cause at e3 they will be irrelevant.

One thing they could start doing which would make me happy and couldn't take a huge amount of time and resources is getting Virtual Console up and running, particularly Gamecube games......
