Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is silent for a reason

I agree Nintendo are doing something in the background.

However those games are aimed at Nintendo core. I don't think any of them will bring in new core players.

They need new franchises and exclusives aimed at the core to get them to come.

That's a good point.

"The company is aiming to firmly complete the development of the entire [Wii U] system and prepare sufficient software so that the Wii U will be at its best at the time of the launch. Needless to say, we have learned a bitter lesson from the launch of the Nintendo 3DS."

And they have: NSMBU and Nintendoland are leaps and bounds ahead of what was there for 3DS launch (Pilotwings and Nintencats)

It's not quite helping the sales, but it is definitely better.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I think Nintendoland is undermined by the amusement park facade and NSMBU is very similar to NSMB 2.  I hope they have something to announce @ or prior to E3, the word of mouth is not there, in fact kids that played over at our house (Nintendoland, NSMB U, Superscribblenauts), had enough just after a few levels and wanted to play something else.

I would still love to see something like "The Legend of Paper Zelda". That would be a fun title for ALL players.

That probably wouldn't work out very well. If I know anything about the Paper Mario Series is that if you change one little thing everyone and everything flips out and the world comes to an end.

I can truly only partially agree with that.

Remember how in the early Wii days Nintendo was not making any core 1st party games (bar the cube port that was TP and the expected Prime3). Now, we're getting Pikmin. That's clearly a core game, it's geared towards gamers in its design and level of quality.

If I'm not mistaken, Pikmin 3 began development as a Wii game. So in this respect, it's much like TP.

I understand but I was saying that Zelda was realeased on the cube and started prod much sooner kind of deal.

Which doesn't change the point that the Wii U has a similar level of "core" first-party gaming to the Wii at the same time period.

Also, Wii had Super Paper Mario within its first year, which, like Pikmin 3, was "geared towards gamers in its design and level of quality".

Nintendo Land surprised me. I thought it was going to be crappy and i would get tired of it quick. I consider myself a hardcore gamer because i put in lots of hours in challenging games. Im confident even Turkish would at least like one attraction on Nintendo Land. Im glad Nintendo packed it in with the deluxe version cause I would have been ignorant towards it and missed out on a mini game compilation that is as fun as the first 3 Mario Party games.
