Forums - Nintendo - What are the only games that can actually push Wii U sales? Please, do not kid yourselves!

You make way too much threads.

I sure don't agree with the Pokemon part! (Unless Nintendo made a actual Generation for the Wii U, which I doubt would ever happen.) Zelda and Super Smash Bros. are good choices. One of the biggest console sellers is Mario Kart, though. It pushes many sales through the holidays and has quite amazing legs.

i do not believe anymore in games that drive sales...maybe only mario on nintendo consoles but not that much except japan maybe you can see it when a new game comes and sales skyrocket..in other regions firstly its all about what the console itself can do and then secondly what kind of game library it has to offer..so again not a specific game but mostly library of games.

As the title says, do not kid yourself. Kirby, F-zero, Metroid, etc are not going to sell Wii U units.

Pokemon

A true Console Pokemon game would sell the Wii U by itself for an entire year! Promise.

ZELDA

Itwould get people to buy the system before and after release of the game.

Super Smash Bros

Need I say more? These games are some of the few at this time that will actually get people to buy the Wii U.

Casuals do not know about the Wii U yet, so Wii Sports Planet will do little for sales until at least next Christmas. Mario Kart WiiU and a 3D Mario will probably need to wait as well.

Do you agree? Of course you do! ^_^

Pokemon? Now you're kidding. Pokemon XD was almost as good as most of the handheld games, it even had a nice spin to it with the Crypto-Pokemon. Yet it only sold 1,25m units, that's worse than any Metroid game. Pokemon is clearly ONLY a handheld franchise.

No you must be kidding. I actually think it is a fact that you are kidding.

We need a real pokemon game. Just like the handheld versions but made from the ground up for a console. There has never been one like that. Stadiums and anything else has not been an actual pokemon game. Surprising since it has been over what? 15-20 years and we have not had an actual pokemon game. What is Nintendos problem?

Nintendo keeps Pokemon on their handhelds for a reason.

Well, Pokemon's out of the question. A full-on RPG, anyway. Nintendo have stated again and again that the main Pokemon games will remain on their handhelds. Some spinoffs would be likely to boost sales a bit, but nothing long-term or significant. Both Zelda and Smash Bros. will have to wait until Q3-Q4 2014, I think.

However, I'm quite certain we'll be seeing Mario Kart 8 or the next 3D Mario this year. Possibly both.

Wii Fit U could manage some increased console sales, but that totally depends on Nintendo's marketing. It'll most likely never ever reach sales close to the 1st two Fits. Pikmin won't make a dent, imo.
There will probably be some Wii Sports-like game sometime this year, at least announced.

This is all mainly about the West, of course. Japan should be fine with everything mentioned above, plus stuff like Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, and other Japan-centric stuff.

Retro's project's a wildcard, until we find out exactly what it is.

Final Fantasy VII remake. No joke.

No Ninpie. Just No. They are guilty of the same thing third parties are guilty of. They give us half asses pokemon games on consoles. We do not buy them or we are tricked into buying them hoping we have something good and then we learn that they gave us nothing but a pile of ....nothing great. Sure, you can battle your favorite pokemon and do a little bit of other stuff, but it is not a full on Pokemon game. IF they would give us a chance maybe we would surprise them. Same with third parties force feeding us games like Dead Space: exctraction and what not.

Like I said, there is a point to why Nintendo wants to keep the mainline Pokemon Series on it's Handhelds. I doubt they'll ever listen to someone wanting a 7th or even 8th generation Pokemon game on a Home Console.

Besides, Home Console Pokemon games aren't half bad.

Has Metroid ever actually sold consoles? I don't see it as a console selling game.
