why wouldn't kirby, f-zero, metriod not sell the wii U? If i didn't have/want a wii u atm and any of those 3 games came out i would buy a wii u. f-zero is one of the games that would force me to buy a wii u just to play. My sister is a huge kirby fan and she would buy the console mostly for a kirby game but shes not much of a gamer.
as for metroid, my brothers wouldn't buy a wii u for it but they would want to play it badly.

You are dead wrong that Metroid can't sell consoles. Prime pretty much sold the gamecube, the trick is, it has to be a good metroid game, it can't be Other M.

Good games sell consoles.

I don't see why a Pokemon game boosting sales is so unimaginable. The thing with it is, it needs to be a proper, full version of Pokemon (possibly mmo-esque, but at least Monster Hunter levels of co-op play), ideally developed by Game Freak.  Not some company I had to look up on Wikipedia who apparently have done nothing of note since their ill-fated Gamecube attempts (although Colosseum really wasn't that awful).

The problem with this is: why would Nintendo want to do that? Unless it was some kind of home console crisis where they had exhausted all their other avenues *coughMarioKart* and the thing still wasn't taking off, there would just be no point. Game Freak can just use less resources to make a handheld title which would still sell more copies, thus netting more profit.

So yeah. Unlikely, but you never know.

And to answer the question, as I hinted at before, the answer is most likely Mario Kart. Or, Mario Kart + new Mario platformer + price cut. Since we've seen that one work recently!

All a Console Pokemon would do is show forumgoers that, despite their wishes and dreams, Pokemon does not sell on consoles.

Zelda is really not such a major franchise in terms of sales and wouldn't have any major effect on Wii U's sales.

Super Smash Bros, maybe. I can see the franchise growing further this generation even if Wii U doesn't sell more than Wii. It could be one of the best sellers of the console, especially since there's a 3DS version, too.

Wii Fit is the only hope I see for Wii U in the short term.

I just don't see a Pokemon game on a Home Console selling, despite how much GameFreak and Nintendo put into it. Pokemon is traditionally Handheld and I think it'll remain there for quite a long time as many people like having that pick up and go factor for these types of games.

Then again, we never really know what the future holds.

Mariokart will sell consoles.. but still.. it hasent been that long since mariokart 7.. and MK wii are still selling pretty good.. So i think they will wait 2-3 years with MarioKart U.. BUT I do think they will do some kind of Mariokart dlc (only for wii u).. and that will sell consoles.. :)

In the mean time i predict a WaveRace game.. it's time and if they make good online (and a killer game) i think that will make the wii u.. go wii.. :)
