Will have sold around 1 million worldwide by the end of 2013
I think in the West it'll have about 210k FW, 590k LT.
I'm with Kevin Vanhord on this one. People want good games and it'll find a home because of that. I think it can sell similarly to The Lost Odyssey.

That doesn't even make sense considering Ninokuni is on the DS too. Seriously, why do people say things like this? I've heard this a lot. This whole "history" or maybe even "honor" stuff. Is this a play on the "I'm an expert" meme? They won't port it because it won't be beneficial and won't sell enough to be worthwhile, not because of some "history" that you made up. Are Inazuma, Professor Layton, Fantasy Life, etc Nintendo exclusive because of some "history" too? Sorry for being harsh, but come on. |
Kain was speaking about how all third parties should port games and make them multiplatform. I'm saying that's not how Level-5 has done things, despite being a third party developer. They have their PS franchises, and more recently with this generation, now Nintendo franchises. And yes, they DO have a history together, what are you talking about? Now if Level-5's publisher wants to port exclusive games to other platforms, then so be it. But Level-5 did find their start thanks to Sony and as such, they will continue making games for them. The fact that they decided to diversify their games portfolio after leaving Sony for another publisher didn't take away from that.

Oh yeah don't worry, I'm buying the game... the question is: Are YOU? |
Of course. During my immensely retarded and completely useless calculation I ended up being #100001

Ok on which Plat should it get ported too?
Its already on the console where J-RPGs sell...The Wii is to weak for NiNoKuni and the WiiU doesn't sell at all at the moment.
The 360?Not even Final Fantasy(13-2 on the PS3 that already sold like crap destroyed FF13 360 that were massively hyped and advertised as a 360 exclusive in the west) is managing to sell there decent. And that was at a time where the 360 still got some J-RPGs.
The only thing we have to find out is > Why NiNoKuni didn't sell in Japan that much and why no one was interested in it.Its the best J-RPG in this Gen(together with Xenoblade that surprisingly did bad too) and it does ride on the Tales of wave that is at the moment bigger than the Final Fantasy Multiplat Maingame wave.
NiNoKuni is right now in Germany i think on Nr1 in the PreOrder Charts and pretty much everywhere else high ranked too i think.Even in the USA its in the top10 right?
Should be able to reach 1 Million if they advertise it right America/EU combined.Still 20 Million to low for its quality(another prove that quality doesn't matter for gamers these days) but better than nothing.

I have a fundimental belief that all 3rd party dev should use multiplatform tools/engines and release their games on all platforms that can handle it. So if I had my way that would mean that Ni No Kuni would be on PC/PS3/36)/Wii U. I believe that the era of 3rd party exclusives ended with the PS2's dominance. Publishers should never limit their potential audience to just one platform even if it will sell best on it. With a multiplatform engine it takes little money/time/effort to reap the rewards of extra sales. Ff13 PS3 sold 4.91m and on 360 it sold 1.92m. Nearly 2m sales was worth the port and now it's unlikely that Square will ever invest in big exclusives ever again, unless a hardware company pays out the wahzoo for it.
