I never said iPad is not a gaming device, I said and I quote again which supports my argument, "its an app device with the ability to play some games"

For the record, you're the one that brought up the whole iPad/phone discussion in your own thread, and it just took you this long to partially agree with my first reply to you.

I brought up the iPad/iPhone to show why the Vita is too expensive for what it does, that was it. I could have easily brought up the iTouch to make the point even better since an iTouch costs around the same price as a Vita.

Smaller amount of apps. Smaller amount of games. Worse web browser in comparison. No onboard memory. Mobile games costing more. Similar hardware price.

There is a big problem there. That was my point.

The phone portion of it was in response to what Superchunk continues to talk about. Only I failed to quote him, although I am sure he could tell who I referring to since me and him had this conversation once before.

Also, this isn't my thread.

You're comparing a phone and a tablet app device with a dedicated gaming device.. That is pointless. Just for fun of it, tell me some games the iPad got slated for this year gaming expo like E3, or at gamescom.

In addition, the only reason why I think the Vita's price is what it is right now is because of the A9 core CPU, and its 5 inch OLED Multi touch screen. It wont be long before those tech become cheaper to manufacture.

All iDevices come standard with Game Center which allows for friends lists, leaderboards for games, game invites, achievements, game recommendations, etc... pretty much what you find on Live, PSN, etc...  PSN trophies are added up as levels. Live Achievements are added up as Gamerscore. Game Center achievements are added up as Points. All go into the account you created which is linked to your Apple ID. Almost all new games are fully functional with Game Center. So while it isn't a "dedicated" gaming device. It is a proper gaming device and also encourages friendly competition. Game Center can not be deleted either. It is a stock feature.

The comparison is not pointless. Only difference between it and a Vita are physical buttons, nothing more. It doesn't become negated because it doesn't have a game like Soul Sacrifice. iPhone has games with large open worlds like Skyrim, which Vita does not.

Now E3 and Gamescom announcements mean something? Anyways, i'll bite when it comes to 2013 titles. Mind you that with the mobile scene we don't always get announcements way in advance, but rather we tend to get stuff out of the blue and/or shortly before release.

Games I know of off the top of my head:

Broken Sword: The Serpent Curse.

Shadowrun Returns

Infinity Blade Dungeons

Sorcery: The Shumanti Hills (Interactive Novel) - Much like a 999 or VLR.

Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes

Assassin's Creed: Utopia

Real Racing 3

Warhammer Quest

As a matter of fact, instead of requesting that I inform you, why not get yourself informed to the great games available on iOS and Android?

http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/

That site also does stuff for 3DS and Vita. in fact they are included on metacritic.

You can also find plenty of top notch games on their way via the VGC Official iOS Gaming Thread.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=142247&page=1

By the way, The Walking Dead game, which is on PS3, PC, 360 and iOS had 25% of all sales done on iOS. Minecraft also sold 8M on PC, 5M on XBox360 and over 5M on mobiles.

I am sure I can find more examples, but I am just going with what I know off the top of my head and all games listed do not includes ones already released, which would make a game list far surpass that of the Vita at the current moment and I wouldn't need to include games like Angry Birds, Cut The Rope, Where's my Water or Words With Friends either.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I want to seperate the discussions so we can get a bit back on topic.

That is a big part of it. According to the parts breakdown the (2) screens alone contribute to ~$50 in parts, not including labor or anything else. This is why I thought ditching the back touch would have made a significant difference. I know they can't do that now, but looking back I can't see any real reason to have it. I haven't enjoyed it's uses at all yet and I may be proven wrong when Tear Away comes, but that is so far away.

They will drop price this year, but I fear it won't dip below the $200 barrier. Now if they never had the rear touch it most likely would have dipped below it and seeing a $179.99 price rather than a $199.99 on a handheld would make a big time difference to your average walk in customer.

Christmas time deals should be real good for 2013, but Sony needs to be sure they really pump out the software this year. They can't have another barren summer again.

They must also make sure that along with a Vita price cut there needs to be a ~50% reduction on memory card costs. a 16GB card can't be $60 and a 32GB can't be $100. Not with a Vita game download being 2-3GB a piece. A 8GB card barely holds anything. I hate that I have to delete games in order to download games. At least give 16GB for $25. That's still a ~35-40% markup from the cost of a standard 16GB Micro SD.

OK.

Sony should make Pokemon. Copy everything but the names.

Why does no one even try to compete with Nintendo? It can be done. I'd buy a Vita if it was a better Pokemon sequel than X/Y can give.

I'm probably not explaining my thoughts properly, so I'm just going to put this to rest. People just need to be more informed about what the Vita has to offer.

Aren't you the guy who has mostly only played Nintendo games and Starcraft in his life? Or did you try out a lot more different games in the last few years?

No, I quit Nintendo instead.

What part of my lack of experience disqualifies my opinion? Sony has nothing to compete with Mario or Pokemon right now. Ignore the details of the suggestion if you want, but something needs to be done about that.

Soleron said:

OK.

Sony should make Pokemon.

Make up 200 creatures, copy everything but the names, give us graphics that are still cute but actually push the Vita (unlike X/Y on the 3DS which looks quite bad), make the story and world a little more complex and deep and surprising than the Pokemon formula allows, but keep the core of the game.

Why does no one even try to compete with Nintendo? It can be done. I'd buy a Vita if it was a better Pokemon sequel than X/Y can give.

No 1 would ever buy it, They did try to compete with Ninty. SSB~PSASBR MK~LBPK(not so sure on this one) WII controller~PS Move

I own Gravity Rush, it is nothing like the openness of Skyrim or even Ravensword. In fact much of it is void of anything. No real interaction with the townsfold either. No entering homes, no entering caves, you get the idea.

And "Get a Clue"? "Picking at straws"? Are you serious? How do I know an E3 listing in mid January? Talk about picking at straws...

Go ahead hotshot, inform me of the Vita E3 lineup.

By the way, last years E3 for mobiles showed:

Dead Trigger

Demon's Score

Infinity Blade Dungeons

The Amazing Spiderman

Reign of Amira

That is a few, and last year was really the first time mobile devs made an appearing at a conference like E3. I expect it will have a bigger presence this year.

I already had that moment with Gravity Rush and Persona 4 Golden.

You just don't get it at all. Look, whatever game the iPad can play, Vita can too but, say Soul Sacrifice on an idevice or android, no. You can list all the mobile games you want, the Vita is eventually getting them, you should know that.
