You're comparing a phone and a tablet app device with a dedicated gaming device.. That is pointless. Just for fun of it, tell me some games the iPad got slated for this year gaming expo like E3, or at gamescom. In addition, the only reason why I think the Vita's price is what it is right now is because of the A9 core CPU, and its 5 inch OLED Multi touch screen. It wont be long before those tech become cheaper to manufacture. |
All iDevices come standard with Game Center which allows for friends lists, leaderboards for games, game invites, achievements, game recommendations, etc... pretty much what you find on Live, PSN, etc... PSN trophies are added up as levels. Live Achievements are added up as Gamerscore. Game Center achievements are added up as Points. All go into the account you created which is linked to your Apple ID. Almost all new games are fully functional with Game Center. So while it isn't a "dedicated" gaming device. It is a proper gaming device and also encourages friendly competition. Game Center can not be deleted either. It is a stock feature.
The comparison is not pointless. Only difference between it and a Vita are physical buttons, nothing more. It doesn't become negated because it doesn't have a game like Soul Sacrifice. iPhone has games with large open worlds like Skyrim, which Vita does not.
Now E3 and Gamescom announcements mean something? Anyways, i'll bite when it comes to 2013 titles. Mind you that with the mobile scene we don't always get announcements way in advance, but rather we tend to get stuff out of the blue and/or shortly before release.
Games I know of off the top of my head:
Broken Sword: The Serpent Curse.
Shadowrun Returns
Infinity Blade Dungeons
Sorcery: The Shumanti Hills (Interactive Novel) - Much like a 999 or VLR.
Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
Assassin's Creed: Utopia
Real Racing 3
Warhammer Quest
Joe Danger
As a matter of fact, instead of requesting that I inform you, why not get yourself informed to the great games available on iOS and Android?
That site also does stuff for 3DS and Vita. in fact they are included on metacritic.
You can also find plenty of top notch games on their way via the VGC Official iOS Gaming Thread.

By the way, The Walking Dead game, which is on PS3, PC, 360 and iOS had 25% of all sales done on iOS. Minecraft also sold 8M on PC, 5M on XBox360 and over 5M on mobiles.
I am sure I can find more examples, but I am just going with what I know off the top of my head and all games listed do not includes ones already released, which would make a game list far surpass that of the Vita at the current moment and I wouldn't need to include games like Angry Birds, Cut The Rope, Where's my Water or Words With Friends either.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)
