It doesn't annoy me that you use your own money to pay for something. It annoys me that Microsoft is getting away in making you pay for features that should be accessible for free.

You can't say over and over that you're looking at this from "a gamers perspective" and then throw a fit about a feature that is entirely unrelated to gaming. Furthermore it's a misleading argument to make because I honestly don't know a single person who pays for XBL Gold just so they can watch Netflix. That would be like saying someone pays $80 a month for their cable package so they can watch the weather channel. In reality they probably love ESPN or HBO or Comedy Central and these other channels are just a bonus. You can say they should be accessible for free but MS says otherwise. I believe that given how painfully slow download times are on PSN and how long some installs take, Sony should make automatic updates free for everyone. But they put it behind a subscription to PS+.

I don't mind paying for Live because the infrastructure is far superior to Live, games have more people online playing them, voice quality is better and more people use headsets. Those are things an actual gamer thinks about. And to me those things are worth a few bucks a month. A gamer doesn't think about having to pay to access Netflix.

So because Sony charges for automatic updates they are considered evil. You don't realize the other benefits you get for subscribing to PS plus such as the instant game collection, exclusive demos/betas and massive discounts. The automatic update is just a little bonus I get.

Also why do ps3 updates only take long for people who rarely use a PS3? I average a 5.6 mb/s download speed on my PS3 when downloading updates/demos etc. Who the hell made up this myth about the PS3 having slow download times? Maybe your parents shouldn't pick up the phone while your dling something cause it seems to me like some of you people are still using a dial up connection.

How is the voice quality better? Voice quality depends on the headset and last time I checked (might be out of date) all xbox consoles come with a headset that most people who aren't willing to spend money on a proper headshet (almost everyone) use and it's complete garbage mic quality. Could you also  explain the bold for me. Or was it a typo?

Lastly, do you ever suffer from not being able to find a lobby in games such as CoD or Battlefield on the PS3? Xbox has like what 1m players on CoD at the most? Assume PS3 has 550k-700k. With that amount of players I highly doubt you are irritated waiting literally miliseconds longer.

Where did my post say they are "evil"? And I realize the other benefits of PS+ just fine. You're telling me there are other benefits to PS+ and automatic updates are just a bonus. Well I can just as easily say there are other benefits of Gold and access to Netflix is just a bonus. Thanks for clearing that up.

Would you mind telling me how you know how often I use my PS3? I have a 75Mb download speed on a fiber connection. And I pay for it in my own home which I bought with my own money. So please, save the whining about connections and petty insults about living at home. Are you 12?

Your reply about voice quality is hilarious because it's the exact opposite of logic and reality. Yes, 360 consoles come with headsets.  A vast majority of XBL players are online with the exact same headset. So the voice quality is extremely consistent (and good). On PSN you have the problem of everyone being able to use whatever Bluetooth headset they want because Sony doesn't give you a headset. So while some people might be on very nice $60 headsets, others might be using $10 headsets they found at Walmart. But the quality of the voice chat itself is still inferior. I use an official Sony PS3 headset and most people sound very over-modulated. The biggest issue here for me is that it's just like the PS2... it varies wildly from developer to developer. That's the downside to Sony leaving developers more on their own in the online world than MS does with Live. On Live developers have a standard of quality they are expected to meet. Join in progress, cross game invites, quality voice chat, etc etc. On PSN these features are different title by title.

Regarding game population, it's hilarious that you have to rely on the most popular franchise in the most popular genre to make an excuse. Staying in the FPS genre, how about KZ3? It was not even out a year before the community was dead. Or Motorstorm Pacific Rift. Are the servers even still up? I bought it 6 months after release and the online community was dead. Among other titles.

You seem awfully immature and defensive about a service you admittedly haven't even used in 5 years.

The reason I use CoD is because I am trying to use a third party game as an example. Almost no third party game has an active community nowadays apart from CoD or Battlefield so it's hard to compare online users. If you have a 75mb fiber connection why are you complaining about the long dl times? It shouldn't take that long to download an update. I mean if I wanted to I could have said Fifa games. The PS3 has a much bigger active community than the xbox and that's because it's catored towards european players whereas North Americans love shooters which is why CoD is more popular on Xbox and which is why games like Killzone don't have a large online community. Still though I can easily find a Killzone 3 match in a matter of seconds. Theres a reason I haven't used it in 5 years. It simply does not appeal to me. PS Plus is more of my thing because I want free games, not the option to talk to people.

You must not understand how bandwidth works if you think having a fast connection will make you immune to slow downloads. Also, don't ask me why downloads are slower on PSN, I am not a Sony engineer.

You can find games more easily in KZ3 now because Sony made it free to play. That wasn't the case before February of this year. And that is a flagship PS3 franchise in the genre you say is so popular.

Not appealing to you personally is fine. But then you still aren't speaking from a gamers perspective, you're speaking from a personal perspective. And good lord why so Sony fans compare PS+ to XBL Gold so often? They are not remotely close to the same thing. One is a ticket to a premium online service. The other is a discount service akin to groupons or a Sam's Club membership. If your desire is free games, then the discount service damned well better offer more of them than something like Live.

I hope you read the last part of the title thread then. Doubt it though.

I read the whole thing and I'm not "raging." This is just the same as the last 3 threads this week and it gets kinda old.

I'm not sure about you, but when I read a thread about a subject and it's an opinion I expect the the person that wrote it to be knowledgable in the area.  Like you stated in a previous thread, you do not even know what's on xbl and you obviously do not own an xbox. So, how am I suppose to take you seriously? The answer is: I can't. If I wanted to know more about what Ps+ offers, then I might ask you.

Seriously, the average 360 fan is not talking about party chat. Give it a rest. Its just something Sony fans focus on because they can't have it.

You are allowed to play the multiplayer side of the game, just not for free on the 360. Sony decided they and 3rd parties will eat those costs and good for them! When online services are available for free, that's great! But being entitled to free online services implies MS shouldn't be allowed to charge for online services. And since I'm not a communist I disagree.

Why do you think developers are okay with MS charging for online services? Because MS takes away their financial burdens of offering online services!

Well your example was bad. MS charged for Live and created a very robust online service never seen on a console before. That forced Sony to compete and create a better online service as well. I'm not sure how that's the same as publishers abusing DLC to make more money. I'll repeat, your example was bad.

The Xbox has a lot of streaming apps not found on PS3 or Wii. I also consider exclusive games as exclusive features. For example, where else am I gonna play Halo 4 or Gears 3 online? I enjoy playing those games online more than any other titles, so that a lone is a good enough reason to pay for Live.

I already have party chat on my vita =). Also the exclusives don't appeal to me. Microsoft is going towards the North American audience and it is obvious by the abundance of mindless first person shooters. I enjoy the diversity and creativity that the PS3 and Wii exclusives have.

Good for you buddy. Sony finally addressed the party chat problem, new hardware.

Hahahah! Oh boy! Not only do you sound like an elitist jerk for calling shooting fans "mindless", but you're clearly ignoring Sony pretty much just makes games for western audiences. The Vita is doomed in Japan due to 3DS getting most of the major Japanese support. So how is Sony going to make Vita appeal Japanese audiences? More Uncharted, maybe God of War, or perhaps Killzone?

Clearly I just whipped your butt in this discussion because now you're showing your true colors. You don't understand why people pay for Live simply because you don't enjoy 360 library. But you're ignoring millions and millions of people do. Live isn't for you and that's fine, but you don't have to piss and moan about it to people that enjoy what it does offer. Try growing up a little and stop getting upset not everyone enjoys the same things as you.

I'm not pissing and moaning. You don't see me preaching to people to stop paying for live. I already said that if you want to pay for live then more power to you. Support the company that you prefer and move on with your life. Also when was the last time a great multi plat (i know you would say halo) shooter came out? This isn't including Far Cry 3 cause it's clearly, according to reviews, the best fps this year. Doesn't count cause it's not even out though. Most shooting games are mindless. Shoot here...move to objective...shoot some more bad guys to get to other objective yeah yeah yeah I get it. I'm a North American so I'm basically making fun of my own kind. Shooting games are mindless and easy because anyone and everyone can pick them up and be good at them. This is what makes them so appealing. Theres a reason CoD has been so successful. MW2 was my first first person shooter EVER and I managed to maintain a 1.5 kd. Shooting games are simply just not hard and that makes them appeal to people who just want to pick up a controller and play without actually thinking about the story.

Lol Killzone 3 went free to play but had a level cap. All the people that I get in the lobby are over that level cap so they have all bought the game and arent playing the free version.

All my complaints about XBL still stand today, which makes my opinion on it up to date.

Pay to use Party Chat? Check.

Pay to have the OPTION to pay for Netflix? Check.

Still leading a bad example for the rest of the console makers? Check.

I'll add this one, Still making people pay for online when all the other consoles offer it for free? Check.

I owned an Xbox in 2006 and sold it in 2007 because I didn't want to pay for something I could get for free.
