400k!!!

Looks like most people over predicted the Wii U sales.

According to Nintendo's president Reggie Fils-Aime the Wii U sold a total of 400k during last week. He also said: "the Wii U is essentially sold out of retail.

Is this good? bad? what do you think?

I will update the games as soon as we heard the numbers.

Hoping they have sold over 500,000 Units. Really hard to tell.

720,000 units is my prediction for week 1.

650k first week.

I'm guessing 400,000 first week. No need to get hopes up.

Love and tolerate.

I'm going with range 800-1m and more accurate 955.326 for their first week.

When I made my initial prediction last week of 475,000 units I was assuming that Nintendo would ship 500,000 on launch day, see a virtual sell out, and they wouldn't send another shipment last week ...

At this point in time I think it is fairly safe to assume that Nintendo had multiple moderately large shipments last week making it difficult to judge how many they sold. If the initial shipment was under 350,000 units I think many retailers would have had difficulty meeting pre-orders, and if the initial shipment was over 700,000 units I think there would have been a significant amount of units on store shelves on Monday; neither of these happened so I think the initial shipment was somewhere between 350,000 and 700,000 units. With Black Friday I suspect Nintendo would face a similar situation being that even systems that sell poorly often break 350,000 units on the Thanksgiving week, and I suspect that a shipment much larger than 700,000 units might not have sold out given the launch earlier in the week.

This puts my likely range at 700,000 to 1,400,000 units and I personally would expect 900,000 to 1,100,000 units sold ...

Of course, I could be horribly wrong
