Forums - Nintendo - What games do you have on 3DS that are NOT from a console Series?

Dillon's Rolling Western, Pushmo and Freakyforms. Does Kid Icarus Uprising counts? I mean, it was totally designed for the 3ds, so you can't say it's a console-like title

It's not counted because the series was on NES, even though Kid Icarus: Uprising is completely different in every single way including genre.

Indeed. The fact it doesn't count by the OP's standards proves this  is no more than a solace thread for the Vita.

Nintendogs+Cats...
Steel Diver...
Code of Princess...
Heroes of Ruin...
Pushmo...
Dillon's Rolling Western...
Freakyforms...
Sakura Samurai...

Have a nice day...

I see all these 3ds comparisons to psp and and ps vita. My nephew who is 8 years old plays it. I see commercials of adults and kids playing together. Not in the real world. 3ds is for kids you ask me. The psp and ps vita have more appeal to adults and kids with games and content. I just dont see an adult or a serious gamer picking a 3ds over a psp or vita.

By the way, did anybody include Bravely Default? It's a new IP.

Games to add: Doctor Lautrec, Crosswords Plus, Art Academy, Etrain Odyssey 4, King of Pirates, Guild 01 (or all 4 games in the package), Fantasy Life, Nano Assault, and Rune Factory 4.

I know that Kid Icarus was on consoles...25 years ago. But Uprising is so different that I consider it to be a new IP. So I'll say Kid Icarus:Uprising.

Nope, doesn't count. The Vita games are not given that level of benefit of the doubt, so my tally doesn't extend that courtesy to 3DS. Basically what this thread proved to me and hopefully a few more of you that 3DS does not have some mysterious line up of unique brand new IPs that are liked by all and sell well. It has its 1st party and a few 3rd party console ports and exclusives that are popular, thats it. They don't do anything super special other than being a good game but they are still portable versions of console games, and once you take that away the list of great material becomes stagnant.

This is what countless 3DS gamers/Vita haters say about Vita, "Take away the console ports and there is nothing there", which I just proved to be true for the 3DS as well. God knows, at least I didn't eliminate Downloadable titles which some Vita haters dismiss as "real games" as well) too otherwise no one would of had a game to show except Pilot Wings Resort.

The difference is that in the case of the vita is that it has console games that are ''washed out''. Most if not all of their games that have console counterparts are from this gen. Worst is that some of them launch at the same day. Why should I spend my money on october 30th on Liberation when I can get AC3 instead? Same goes for CoD.

UC:GA is a fraction of the experience you get from UC2 on PS3. Same goes for Resistance. In the case of KI, unlike Vita's console IP that are super recent and that we've all played on this gen home console, KI was not present on this gen's home console. It is 25 years old and ALOT of gamers have never played it, meanwhile I played UC3 last year. Also, when UC:GA is a fraction of it's console counterpart, KI is a thousand time better than it's console counterpart.

I know these are no longer Sony brands but if we (hypotheticaly) could have a new Crash or Spyro, franchises that we have'nt seen in years, and if these games were bigger/better/prettier than what they were on the ps1 than it would be a completly other story and it would get my attention.

Also the 3DS is not trying to make console games. I don't expect nor want a metroid fps like metroid prime cause that would be just a subpar experience of what I had on console, but I'm expecting a 2D Metroid, that would be unique since were not having any of these on consoles. Not everything work on handheld, Mario works, Uncharted and CoD does not. LBP also works, but assassin creed does not. Why? Because a Mario or LBP on handheld does not mean that it's ''inferior'' to it's console counterparts. Uncharted and Assassin Creed are clearly inferior to it's console counterparts.

Can you tell me what makes Uncharted Golden Abyss, AssCreed: Liberation, CoD: Declassified, Modnation Racers, Resistance: Burning Skies, and Wipeout 2048 different from their console counterparts? How is it compared to 3DS' console spinoffs?

Uncharted PS3 is all about the spectacle, it evokes the feeling of watching a big budget blockbuster with explosions and car chases . etc.

What Uncharted Golden Abyss does is far more subtle. Its a prequel to the series so Drake hasn't experienced all the crazy that has happened in 1-3. The game takes greater effort in fleshing out the exploration and puzzle solving. There are riddles and collectable clues all over the game that can be found to flesh out some back story stuff about the area and motives of characters. The game allows multiple input methods to create ease for those who might not be used to the Uncharted series. You can just trace with your finger across ledges to get across obstacles, to be honest its the best way to go cuz its faster. Paced evenly throught the game you still have gunfights. Aiming can be enhanced with gyro or you can cut it off you find it more difficult. Grenades are thrown by tracing your finger from the icon to the desired spot which makes it more precise. When sneaking up on enemies you can tap them to innitiate takedowns. Fist fights are done via touch screen by swiping in the direction it tells you to either dodge or swing. There are a few rubbing mini games where you will need to rub the screen to uncover images, then put them together like a jigsaw puzzle. Occasionally you will b required to find a strong light source to uncover secret writing on paper. Its a cool effect....if you can get it to work right. I personally give it an 8.5/10 because it definitely has a few hitches but executes well mostly.

ModNation Racers:Road Trip is very similar to PS3 version. What it adds is being able to tap the screen in order to launch a power up. All the menus are touch based but really wish they weren't as some of the buttons are tiny. Same level of customization is available. Some of it will be unlocked from story mode which is filled with some great track designs to say the least. Its really fun at its core but it really isn't doing too much the PS3 version didn't. I also hate the fact they made many of the collectable parts only unlockable by Near, logging your distance traveled AND its only AdHoc Multiplayer. I give it a 7/10, this is why no one is seriously boasting about this one as it may very well be what most describe.

Assassin's Creed III: Liberations is awesome. Aveline is a very well designed character personality wise. She is very femme fatale. They added the persona costume change mechanic which has you feeling more like a spy than a assassin, but very much appreciated. You will scope out targets for a few months by gaining intel via espionage, then strike when they least expect it. They didn't want you to get bogged down by loads of story so its pretty direct within the games short missions to make accessible. Almost every Vita feature is implemented well. To pickpocket just target behind someone and swipe slowly on the rear pad. You can do chain kills by tapping one button then tracing your finger over enemy icons to do rapid kills(its a meter you build from fighting multiple opponents). To toggle the map just click on it, it also can be scaled by pinching. The touch stuff is cool without being to intruisive to the gameplay. Aveline also boasts unique weapons like poison darts that turn enemies crazed, its cool having them do your dirty work for you. Then you can actually shoot the darts out of an umbrella. She also has a whip that she can lasso guys with to pull them in then clothesline them like batman's batclaw. The whip also functions as a way of traversing.....ala spiderman. this game is an 9/10 in my book.

Haven't played the others. I know Resistance boasts touch weapons located on the screen for easy access.

More Vita Exclusive games that embody the portable mechanic perfectly would be Unit 13(3rd Person Shooter, 8.5/10), Gravity Rush(Jesus, 9/10)

I can sort of agree with the Bolded. Yet basically what you are saying is that because they are based on current gen games with all of its current gen capabilities, its making them look bad. Yet they should not be being compared to what is possible or capable on consoles in the first place, rather it's peers in the handheld market (PSP and 3DS) and when doing so you see the brilliance in what they offer.

THe unbolded: Metal Gear Solid 3D, Resident Evil Revalations, Kingdom Hearts 3D say hi.

Can't comment on KH since I don't know much about it; however, MGS3D was a washed out port, hence it didn't do well at all.

To be fair, the appeal of RE was that it was not trying to be the console version, but a return to the survival roots.

So 3DS sells > Vita, even though Vita = 3DS. A shame, but what can you do?
