Forums - Nintendo - Does anyone else feel like there is no hype for Nintendo this Holiday?

I am with you. I don't feel that big 'game changer' moment - like when the PS2 launched, or the Xbox, or Wii or Kinect. The screen tablet just doesn't seem to wow or make me wonder - how are they going to pull that off.

I don't feel the 'this is a game changing moment' buzz with the launch of the WiiU. I hope is exciting, but with tablets so common now - and the integration of Vita on the PS3 and Smart Glass on the Xbox - I don't feel a big revolution about to happen. We will just have to wait and see.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

My hype for Wii U died when Rayman Legends was delayed.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

ZombieU is literally the only thing about the Wii U launch that has me even vaguely interested. I never buy hardware for the sake of hardware. Some of the "launch window" games are much more compelling.

I don't know about real world hype, but I asked my niece (of the Just Dance, Zumba crowd) if she wanted a Wii U. Her response was, "nah." However, she did inform me that she wanted a new laptop, some Yankee candles, and a leather-bound copy of The Hobbit.

You know what had hype? Resident Evil 6, the Vita Launch, Assassin's Creed 3, Fable the Journey, etc. The Wii U doesn't need hype. Just wait two weeks. You'll have all of the excitement you need and then some.

With all the HD news PS4 and 720 info leaked, price cuts of current gen, Halo this and Dishonored that, etc. Seems like I have not seen anything big being talked about for Nintendo. We have the occassional game thread from ViCViper, bit they nevernget many hits.

Is there seriously nothing that people are excited for? Seems like people just want to talk about specs about the Wii U or why they think it will do bad or good. Where is the excitement? Finally a new console! No more sloppy seconds and waiting for wii games! Nintendo nation can hold their heads up high again, but no one seems to actually care. After the embarresssing last two years you all should care!

I wouldn't put too much stock in the small sample size here, Spurge.

Unfortunately, I'm out of my country for a while so I haven't been able to observe what's going on in the States, but after looking through many gaming and non-gaming sites over the past few months, I can say that there is a lot of buzz over Wii U and 3DS -- for and against. I think in general (and please forgive the stereotype) Nintendo loyalists are more demure than other fan bases. And since, for some reason, it's fashionable to mock Nintendo, those fans sometimes get scared away from the bigger sites like IGN. But that's just my theory.

Were nintendo fans holding their heads low before? Doesnt seem like it to me, especially you. You seem to be just about everywhere on this website...and maybe places you shouldnt.

I think the hype for the Wii U is really high right now even if i am not convinced.

The real question should be how much hype has the console outside of the internet.

The vita has alot of internet hype at launch too and we have seen how that turned out to be.

Internet hype does not reflect the success of a console.

On the other hand what big title beside Super Mario Bros has Ninty in the first half of the year?
I mean Rayman Legends will be a quality game but its isnt a big IP. Will Rayman Legends be able to sell some Wii Us?

Oh and besides ( because some guy mentioned it)

There is nothing wrong in waiting a year before judging a console doomed. I say it to the Vita and i will say the same for the Wii U. Let the console be one year into the market before calling it doomed. No double standards here.

Well it seems like it's already sold out so I dont really know about that,I think the bigger question is if Nintendo will be able to continue selling it in large quantities after the holiday season with the price point become a bigger factor than now where it's accepted due to the holiday season

Nope.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
