Here's a quote:

"Nintendo tends to release too many titles at the launch of a hardware system and as a result suffers a drop in new games for quite some time after launch, and for the Wii U launch, we are being very careful not to let it happen," he said. "Fortunately, third-party publishers overseas are launching many titles for us this time, and we were able to push back the release of some of the titles that we had originally intended to release as launch titles until next year."

So this might explain the Pikmin 3 delay.

I wanted to buy at launch but it looks like I'm gonna wait a while derp

Same with Wii. I waited for SMG to release before I got one.

Considering that Nintendo are confident all 5.5million Wii Us will sell within the holiday period, I'd say the hype is there.

PC games have utilized patches for years. You'd have to be ignorant not to want such an option available for games. Also patches aren't exclusively DLC, so your example was quite poor. An example of an instance where a patch would be very welcome would be to improve Brawl's online component.

because of "core" part, wii u is selling out across the country from the first day when preorders opened (13/9), lol.

for casual part, there's a TV ads on TV now.

EDIT: What I meant to say was that I'd rather have a game release as complete as possible and not have devs rely on patches to get their games to level they were supposed to be at.

You're right though, I don't play PC games very much, at least not ones that get patched a lot. SSBB was a game that cuold've used a patch, and Mario Kart 7 did benefit from it.

yeah this is the biggest blow to me, I'm even considering canceling my WiiU until it cometh out!

but the reason they did it is because they want to spread put the games a bit more otherwise we will have gaps in releases
