people who always brand themselves as "hardcore gamer" and think nintendo is too kiddy for them have jalopeno in their butt right now. |
I don`t think this is what`s going to change that perception, but it`s a start. Actually, the launch line-up has good examples of this change.
Btw, had to do a google search but now i understand what you meant with jalopeno! :D

Glad Nintendo has step up their childish gaming to aim to a more mature audience :)

lol where you from?

Wii did not have as many people calling it kiddie as the Gamecube did. The hard core hated that purple lunch box, even though it had several great, "mature" games (Resident Evil, Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, etc.)
I would go so far as to say that the term "casual" replaced "kiddie" as the buzz word meant to hurt Nintendo this last gen. You would hear people call Nintendo kiddie ALL the time during the cube years, but its been largely replaced with the phrase "casual games" which means games that only babies AND moms play now. Progress.
Lots of games are rated Cero Z in Japan...
23 in fact including Ninja Gaiden II

Not even the first on a Nintedo platform, that honour goes to Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on DS
EDIT: Oh I see they are saying it's the first launch title to be rated Cero Z, well that is a pretty meaningless distinction.

Portugal :)

Common misconception, Nintendo doesn't make violent or mature games on their console.
Its true Nintendo's internal development teams always aim for family friendly entertainment with their games, but Nintendo has no problem have a second party or external third party developer create violent games and publish them.

The last game I remember getting an Adult Only rating was Manhunt 2. & If remember correctly Nintendo has a zero tolerance for AO (here in the US that is) which is why Manhunt has to be toned down for an M rating. If the ESRB ends up giving that rating to the NA verison, the game might suffer the same fate. But probably not since the violence is much worse in Mad World (in my personal opinion) and that game got an M rating. |
Ninja Gaiden won't get AO in the US unless they have sex or nudity. So far aside from a fanservice laden Ayame, I doubt Team Ninja would actually put that in this game, especially since Nintendo is publishing it.

With the Wii they added Miis, whimsical music, silly animations, and their interface is cartoon like." so strong arguments...i just cant counter...you won also why always people say kiddie when they mean teenie |
Teenie? Alright if you say so. If I'm not mistaken most teens have gravited away from Nintendo in favor of Xbox and PlayStation. I'd say teens are far more mature than you might come to believe if that's how you think. I mean kiddie when I say it and so does everyone else, which means 12 and younger if you want to try and put an exact age threshold on it. That's what this topic is addressing, not people keep considering Nintendo as too "teenie".
Try not isolating a statement to eliminate the supporting factors for your own purposes. The Wii has a lower age reach than the other consoles, probably lower than any other main gaming console in history because this gen was the first to have an intricate OS and a stronger image. With previous consoles they were primarlily "put in game, play game" devices. Now they are interactive and have more to do than just play games you have bought and put in the disk drive.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
