Wii did not have as many people calling it kiddie as the Gamecube did. The hard core hated that purple lunch box, even though it had several great, "mature" games (Resident Evil, Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, etc.)
I would go so far as to say that the term "casual" replaced "kiddie" as the buzz word meant to hurt Nintendo this last gen. You would hear people call Nintendo kiddie ALL the time during the cube years, but its been largely replaced with the phrase "casual games" which means games that only babies AND moms play now.
