Forums - Nintendo - Darksiders 2 Wii U Edition May Be Worth Waiting For

The title of the thread and entire article is pretty misleading/pointless.  If someone likes Darksiders is no reason to wait for a WiiU release, it is not going to be better in any way, so not worth waiting for.

Please don't try and tell me what I convince myself of and when either.  I queued for 30 minutes to get on a machine, I don't do that for something I already decided I will not enjoy or gain anything from.

Just the fact that you can take the game to your room is already a big perk to me personally. So yes, to me, it is probably worth waiting for it than getting it for Xbox360.

The inventory on the gamepad and removal of mini-pad and other clutter from the screen also makes it an appealing prospect.

I played a WiiU today, ZombiU.

I am now convinced the gamepad adds nothing in a way of good gameplay experience, looking between the two screens is just disjointing and the experience doesn't feel like it benefits really, no more than doing it on the TV screen could have..

I will dare to say the control pad feels like the worst designed first party controller since the Dreamcast. Screw gaming on that, no wonder they made the XBox-like controller as an option.

Nice Try!

I played Wii U at gamescom in cologne and the controls are fine. I'm willing to put money down on betting that you haven't played it. Where did you? Enlighten us please. You sure as hell were not at a Wii U experience since you need to be a club Nintendo member.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

what are your gripes with the controller? weight? form? size?

Missing Sony Logo

Just to be clear, worth it.

darksiders series is a combination of : zelda and god of war, zelda puzzles and some of its gameplay and god of war's hack/slash combo gameplay for the most of the time while fighting.

You convinced yourself of that before you ever even thought about touching the console, and you mean the 3rd classic controller revision that makes its layout more like the Upad. That core controller design has been around for 2 decades now since Nintendo created it.

Not that I see what any of this has to do with Darksiders 2...

Erm.. am I missing something here or does the topic say that the Wii U version is going to have all the dlc included? Is that not reason enough to wait the extra couple of months? Not to mention, the graphics will probably be upscaled a bit, and I'm sure some people will find extra value in the gamepad extra screen/touch screen functionality.

So this game is sort of a God of War hack and slash type of deal? Looks interesting and I like the art style. Maybe I'll pick it up on the cheap later down the road, but NSMB U and Assassins Creed 3 should be enough for me to start with

Its like God of War meets Zelda but not as good as either. On its own its pretty good.

this is the least interesting port the WiiU is getting imo, but i might buy it if it gets a price cut

I gotta ask: who are these people that want to play with the Pro Controller over the Gamepad? Do they really exist or are they merely (one of) the spear point(s) that fanboys use to discount the console in general (up there with grousing about Bayonetta 2 and the state of some ports having full HD and 60fps)*? Cause, seriously, who wants *less* functionality?

*And Nintendo has it primarily to head such criticism off at the pass.

Well one of the main reasons for the Pro Controller is that it's a viable option for competitive local multiplayer games.  Like say you want to play a game like Madden or COD with a buddy... player 1 is obviously going to be using the Wii U's game pad, but what is the other going to use?  Wiimote and nunchuck?!?  Get outta here!

Also, with the Wii U gamepad's rumored 3-5 hour battery life, if you're the type of person who plays traditional games like AC3 or COD or whatever for long sessions at a time, then the longer-life Pro Controller again becomes a great option, since the U pad's touch screen and motion controls aren't mandatory for games like that.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Nintendo is adding the pro controller as a shifter to get the Playstation and Xbox owners to  come to the Wii. The body is similar to what the 360/PS3 owners are used to because Nintendo wants the more serious gaming crowd to take the Wii U seriously. The Wii sold well commercially but in the gaming community, it wasnt as well recieved.
