Forums - Nintendo - Darksiders 2 Wii U Edition May Be Worth Waiting For

If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a ton of games on your backlog. And with the introduction of the Wii U, that number may grow even more from a ton to a crap ton. It’s a good problem to have, if you ask me, because it means that there are a lot of new and exciting games to look forward to. And one of those titles that you may want to hold off on getting until the Wii U launches is Vigil Games’ awesome action-adventure title, Darksiders 2.

Looks like Nintendo is really serious about shedding the “casual gaming only” image by getting all these hardcore titles for the Wii U. Darksiders 2 is one of those titles and with a score of 83 percent and 84 percent for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 respectively, there’s really no reason for you not to pick up this game. The good news is that if you haven’t yet and are planning on getting a Wii U, Darksiders 2 is one of the launch titles that you can pick up on November 18th.

Darksiders 2 isn’t just some port of the existing console versions. In fact, it takes advantage of the Wii U’s revolutionary GamePad. Joystiq reports:

Darksiders 2′s Wii U release, which will be out on the console’s November 18 launch day, supports the full range of control options. You can play on your TV with the GamePad used to access your inventory and special abilities; you can play directly on the GamePad’s screen, leaving the TV free for things that don’t have skull faces; or you can use the Pro Controller and get an experience similar to that on other consoles.

Aside from getting the perks associated with the Wii U’s gamepad, the Darksiders 2 Wii U edition will also net you several DLCs  such as Argul’s Tomb and several packs that give you new quests, weapons, armor, items and faster horses. These packs include Death Rides, Angel of Death and Shadow and Deadly Despair.

Will Darksiders 2 be included in your list of Wii U launch titles to pick up? For those of you who have played the game, would you like to relive Death’s quest to redeem his brother using the Wii U’s gamepad? Discuss in the comments below!

for wii u?

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

The biggest problem I have with the likes of ME Darksiders and Batman is not that they are going to come out later on WiiU it is that they are coming to the PC(or came out already)
I have all 3 current gen consoles and will at least buy WiiU next gen (I have not enough time for more consoles and I have a ton of games I have to finish first etc.)

I got Darksiders on 360 and was totally angry that it came out on PC because I waited for a PC announcment it didnt happen I bought a 360 version and then the PC version came out......
For me PC is the best platform for multiplat games (as long as the game is ported over with a minimum of professionality) not only because of the graphics but because of all the potential (MODS etc just look at skyrim).

There is a Skyrim coop mod JustCause2 multiplayer mod. Player hosted servers without the need for shitty publisher hosted servers that will be shut down so you are forced to buy the new version of the same old game etc.... I can play every game without CD (if you know what I mean) I can buy 1 game and play multiplayer with all my friends because noone needs a CD (again same reason as before) etc etc. There is HD texture mods and I can play with mouse keyboard AND controller. Can playthe game 4 years later in higher resolution with 16x anti aliasing etc. Because I have a newer GPU and not a stupid  console emulator inside the nextgen console  with bugs  or 1:1 backwards compatibility that wont let me increase the resolution or whatever.

Every game that comes out on PC is almost a NOGO for me on consoles. Plus PC games are cheaper and usually drop in price super fast. Yesterday I bought Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition for 3 dollars on PC while the normal 360 version costs like 15 or so....

But with WiiU its the first time I am not so sure anymore because of the controller. I still prefer PC over any kind of console version but the controller Gamepad makes it really hard for me now.

I will wait for the WiiU version to come out then compare what suits me best and then decide what to buy. But a 360 or Ps3 version is def a nogo for me.

I gotta ask: who are these people that want to play with the Pro Controller over the Gamepad? Do they really exist or are they merely (one of) the spear point(s) that fanboys use to discount the console in general (up there with grousing about Bayonetta 2 and the state of some ports having full HD and 60fps)*? Cause, seriously, who wants *less* functionality?

*And Nintendo has it primarily to head such criticism off at the pass.

@ Bold

Was this written by you Libroex? It is very good!

Here come the DLCs on Nintendo systems. It is going to be a bumpy ride.

Nah, though I probably should become a journalist.

I've been wondering this myself. The Upad and the classic controller but have the same around of buttons with th esame general layout. The only different is that the Pro controller has no screen and is missing all of the auxillary features.

So this game is sort of a God of War hack and slash type of deal? Looks interesting and I like the art style. Maybe I'll pick it up on the cheap later down the road, but NSMB U and Assassins Creed 3 should be enough for me to start with

I played a WiiU today, ZombiU.

I am now convinced the gamepad adds nothing in a way of good gameplay experience, looking between the two screens is just disjointing and the experience doesn't feel like it benefits really, no more than doing it on the TV screen could have..

I will dare to say the control pad feels like the worst designed first party controller since the Dreamcast. Screw gaming on that, no wonder they made the XBox-like controller as an option.

You convinced yourself of that before you ever even thought about touching the console, and you mean the 3rd classic controller revision that makes its layout more like the Upad. That core controller design has been around for 2 decades now since Nintendo created it.

Not that I see what any of this has to do with Darksiders 2... Now if I were to go in a random Sony thread and say something like this about Vita I would likely get banned for it.
