"G" Monster Hunter games are much more than ports.

They're in the weird line between port and remakes. I call them enchanced ports or enhanced versions.
I'm guessing this is the new future for the Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter 4 will probably be like this too.
Home play version for Wii U in HD, portable version for 3DS, seamlessly being able to transfer your game from one to the other.
I'd like to see other 3DS games on Wii U enhanced into HD with "transfarring".

It can't hurt to have it on Wii U. It can ONLY help. And that's beneficial enough. Besides, anybody would want MH on their favorite home console in Japan despite it not being as popular on home consoles. Japanese gamers bought the shit out of this game on Wii. Again, not as many units as the PSP or 3DS versions but it still moved systems - which is very beneficial. |
Also, don't forget the idea that Wii U "is" a giant DS.
Many people may look at the Wii U version like the older brother of the 3DS version and won't be differenciating both games so much. I bet that the 3DS touchscreen and the gamepad touchscreen will look identical playing offline.
The Wii U version will probably be the one that sells better in the West.
MHTri wasn't a huge seller, but about 1 million+ from US/Euro is nothing to sneeze at. Certainly was profitable for Capcom to have a console version.
Monster Hunter 3 is my played Wii. I'm not sure if I'm getting the Wii U,but, if I do Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be day 1 for me.
Another version of MH3? Ah well, I'm just happy it's getting localized. I've been dying for some Monster Hunter action.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

the series got popular through playing ad-hoc with your bros next to you. They did create ways to play online, but that was never the focus of the series.
