Skyrim was great but they really need to improve their bug catching skills. I know that it's difficult to make big, open game worlds free of bugs but some of the stuff you encounter are inexcusable. It's not like their games sell like crap either so they should be able to afford some additional testers.

I don't care one way or the other regarding the way they choose to do business, but as game developers I can't stand them. They've never made a game that worked the way it's supposed to on launch day, and just because they're big games is no excuse for it. That's like selling a Hummer that breaks down every 10 miles. They won't ever see a dime out of me after the atrocity that was Oblivion for the PS3 (It sucked for 360 and PC too, but I'm told it was less buggy).

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Blame the PS3s RAM structure as Ive heard thats the biggest problem

so how come they are the ONLY developers that seem to have such an issue with it. They are absolutely to blame.

OT, they are meh to me, honestly never liked the Elder Scrolls series, not into the D&D fantasy theme. Loved Fallout3, and i never really had any issues with it, until i started getting the DLC for some reason it acted really wonky after that. I skipped New Vegas becasue everyone i know pretty much told me to just play Fallout3 again.

To be fair the problem is, from what I've been explained(someone please correct me if I'm wrong), that every item in skyrim needs to have its position saved if you move it. So the more you play, the more objects you interact with, the bigger the save gets. Eventually the save file gets too big. The 360 version would have the same problems too but since its ram isn't split you would need to play the game for obscene amounts of hours and move around a ridiculous amount of items to get a big enough save. On the other hand the problems with the ps3 version usually occured before the typical player had finished doing everything they want to in the game, at least before the game was patched. I'm not sure about its current state since I only own the PC version.

Either way I do agree that it is ridiculous the ps3 game shipped out like that. They should have scratched or delayed the ps3 version if they knew the game would have issues during even a normal playthrough. As for the dawnguard expansion. I'm guessing it causes the problem to occur much sooner since they are adding more areas and items. They already fucked up once so surely they wouldnt want to release a dlc that makes the game become unplayable significantly sooner.

you know, this does make sense and seems to jive with all the complaints for the PS3 version. I still say they could have done a better job, but I can see know why they had such a hard time

Terrible incompetent developpers. never had so much trouble playing a game on ps3.

I feel that they are the best active game devs in the world

Talented dev that seems to fall short on consistency across all platforms. Their PS3 support has been terrible and the amount of bugs on launch for their games is unacceptable.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

What Bethesda do with their open world RPGs, no other developer comes close to matching. No other RPGs or open world games give you such a detailed world where you can interact with everything (and where the game remembers what happens to those items) or where virtually anyone can die. The AI routines as well have been improving game by game where you can almost believe they're going about their daily business. In this respect, TES and Fallout 3 show off their genius.

Do the games have bugs? Yes, but when you look at the scale, it's not that surprising. The sheer number of variables is astounding. When problems cropped up for players, their tech support would ask you to send your saved game due to the sheer number of variables to sort through; they had to deal with it on a case-by-case basis.

Do I think they could do a better job of reducing crashes and glitches? Yes (in fact I downloaded a third-party mod that has prevented Skyrim from crashing!), they should probably hire more proficient coders, but that doesn't take away from their skill at creating incredibly detailed and realised worlds.

As for the PS3 issue, I think they should have just cut their losses and outright said the PS3 was too difficult to get the game stably working. It is a major RAM hog and with the architecture on PS3, it's just difficult to get a game of TES nature working suitably. Maybe they should have hired a few modders to sort out the tech problems

The people getting angry about the lack of DLC dont realize that this is in fact a hardware issue with the PS3. It has nothing to do with Bethesda being lazy or having poor quality control. The PS3s RAM simply cant handle Skyrim. Its the one area where PS3 isnt actually as good as the 360 is in terms of hardware. It also happens to be the most important thing for a game like Skyrim. Its an issue that probably isnt fixable not because Betheda doesnt know how but because the PS3s hardware cant run it.

Its RAM speeds are too slow to handle being able to simultaniouly load every moved object in the game into its new location

which is why it can run MMO's in real time....with no problems....

the "not to much power" excuse..... for the ps3......really?? I mean really

just when you think you've see it all

I voted poor.

Great games, but their developers are terrible and they mistreat people who play their games on the PS3.

Not the biggest fan od the elder scrolls but i absolutely loved Fallout 3. I think they are pretty good, and the bugs are overstated more often than not. With a great game, come great bugs. Live with it.
