I believe the reason this feels far-fetched is because:
1) Nintendo historically did not do this
2) (adding in my part) why would they moneyhat a game in a genre they cover so well? They could have used this opportunity to get more diverse content exclusively onto their system.

You're second point is definitely valid, but I don't think we can put a lot of stock in what they did in the past...
It seems as though we've already seen them do a lot this time around that they haven't done in generations past (third-party opinions and whatnot)...
As for why they would moneyhat this game, I honestly don't know...
Maybe in an effort to remind older gamers of what they loved about the NES and SNES (2D experiences)...
I imagine this game and NSMBU would do a decent job of that...
Having said this, it would appear from all of this info that for the time being, Rayman Legends is indeed an exclusive...
But I imagine if it doesn't fair much better than Rayman Origins it will get ported...
