Forums - Nintendo - Rayman Legends is Exclusive to Wii U

It's funny how buddy-buddy Nintendo and Ubisoft have become over the past generation. I guess that'll happen when a single Ubisoft franchise can sell 9+ million with each entry on the Wii.

But yeah, Ubisoft is definitely supporting Wii U with some fantastic titles. Rayman Legends and ZombiU will be day 1 purchases with the console, and I'm definitely thinking of picking up Assassin's Creed III as well. Good stuff for sure.

And yes, that boxart is pretty great. ^_^

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Don't they understand Nintendo fanboys and casuals (98% of the WiiU buyers) will all buy the "New" Mario game and ignore Rayman Legends, even if Rayman will be the much better (and "newer") game???

I don't care if it's a temporary exclusive, but you HAVE to release this on PS3 & Vita!!!

That's not flaming at all!

It'll probably be released on other platforms early 2013.

Funny if this is released on the PS3 or X360, you'd also have to adquire a Vita or Surface/tablet. Any full version of this game requires additional hardware adquisition be it a next gen console, a next gen handheld or a next gen tablet. Take your pick at what you want.

Well, the trailer clearly shows that the entire game was designed with the Wii U controller in mind. And given how it will release close to launch/christmas, sales are likely to be very high, even on a Nintendo console. In a previous trailer they also showed how dolls can be put on the Wii U controller and interact with the game, which is something the Vita can't do.

It simply wouldn't make sense to port this game to another console. They would have to redesign the whole thing.

I think you're kind of missing my point.   My issue wasn't about the design of the game being uneasy to port to other systems, it's why they'd design a Rayman game from the ground up for Wii-U when Nintendo's previous system gave them least support of all the console versions.  If they had released Origins solely for the Wii, it would have made a big loss (granted, if it released solely for any system it would have made a loss).  Without a moneyhat, which fans assure me Nintendo would never do, it just seems like an odd business decision.  Especially against direct competition from Mario.

If this is just sort of a re-using assets spin-off for Wii-U, then it makes a little more sense, but the trailers for it looked like a full & proper sequel, to me at least!

Are you me? This is exactly what I will buy @ launch, except I will pick up Project P-100, too.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I may find myself picking up three UbiSoft games a launch too.  Who would've thought?

Might be a bit too early for this, but if I had it, I'd post that Petz gif of the pony pissing on the Wii - just to show how far we've come!

And all thanks to Dancing.
