PC gamers are a funny crowd to me. a game that was ugly on ps3 get's ported to their platform of choice with improvements and all they can say is it is an unacceptable disaster.

meanwhile, minecraft is hyped as the best game ever.

So a game can freeze, be filled with tons of bugs, glitches and problems but as long as you can run it in 1080p, its awwright?

This is exactly what I don't get about (some) PC gamers.

I mean, I'll admit, I spend a LOT of money on my PC, and I've even overclocked my CPU and GPU to get the best possible performance so I can run games in 1080p, but there are games I wouldn't touch such as Skyrim because of the HORRIBLE issues it had... and another example, Battlefield 3, I bought it on PS3 and PC day one, PS3 to play with my friends, PC to play with high graphics and my brother. I tried the PC version, and for a month after release, it had so many issues for me, and I was one of those people that suffered from random crashes and the game closing itself off, and DICE were working to fix it... but on the PS3 version, the graphics weren't as nice, the framerate was lower, less people in a map, but it ran PERFECTLY for me... I didn't care about graphics.

What I'm trying to say, but not exactly conveying very well, is that PC gamers are being given an AMAZING game, which yeah, has some technical problems, and they're whining about it, they even get it cheaper than us console players had to pay! Personally I'd be over the moon because the performance isn't even that bad on the PS3 version (Which is what I play), I mean sure some areas can dip low, but it's not enough to put me off at all, and the PC version is apparently slightly better in that regards. As for not being able to play in 1080p... I play a lot of games in windowed mode anyway, lol.

And people are saying things like "Oh, well From won't fix the game after release, they rely on modders"... Yeah, they've said that, however, if you ask me, modders have done a fuck ton more for Skyrim than Bethesda have, and people STILL praise that game as being the spawn of god or something daft like that, lol.

i played battlefield 3 some hundred hours and i did never have problems with it. i played with controller and super bad ping against keyboard players that's why my stats suck but that's all^^ and i also never had problems with skyrim nor oblivion. so yeah, why should i complain (and even if, i just understand that it's almost not possible to make a game like skyrim without having some problems for some players)

and my problem with such a version for pc like we get with dark souls is that i think every pc game should have 1080p or slightly less nowadays. it's like i would get a 320p retail game for ps3, it could be very good, i still wouldn't accept that just because the developer would say that he has no clue how to make games for that console.

... Or man the fuck up, stop bitching, and get it for the PC for cheaper with added content that he doesn't have to pay for?

okay..... :(

I wasn't bitching by the way. I really don't care.

Read my post above. I can't even f***ing buy it :|. I don't know whose idea it was to region lock all GFWL games but they sure know how to turn people to piracy...not saying I am going to do that.

Region locking is totally anti-consumer and only there to benefit the company. If people want to pirate region locked games, so be it. It's not our fault they aren't making the content readily available for us. I also agree this is sub-par effort when you consider the raw potential that the PC platform offers. But From Software already admitted their mistake, and that really should have been the end to this. If the modding community can fix these problems, I really think PC gamers should just let it slide.

Skyrim is a different issue.

I want to point out

Very carefully

That I can run Skyrim in 1080p, and even with the Bethesda Problem it still provides a generally satisfactory experience, where Bethesda tries to fix the majority of the problems they inevitably leave us with. Dark Souls is not going to do that for us, and it's going to burn out my eyes in the bargain.

See I think the Dark Souls issues are just whining.  A game that crashes, freezes, has untold amounts of game breaking bugs is apparently fine because Bethesda release tools for the fanbase to fix the game, but a game runs in 720p and is locked at 30 frames per second and is the end of the world?

Not feeling it as legitimate complaint.  720p and 30fps makes this no longer a "generally satisfactory experience"?   Really?

1024*720 is not 720p, for a start, and yes, there are certain bog standards for console-to-PC ports which this does not meet. Not good enough.

We'll see how the game actually plays under compatibility stresses when it releases; I do not have high hopes.

If people actually wait a few months and let modders get their hands on it, I reckon they'll enjoy it and stop bitching and moaning, I mean SURE it should have been like it from the start, but this is a dev team that have admitted to their faults, and said they were on a tight deadline, not given enough time to work things out... but they didn't have to, the only people that actually WANTED the game on PC are the fans, and when they get what they want, they cry like little babies saying it isn't good enough...

Like I said, let modders get their hands on it, give you your boner inducing 1080p and whatever else you want to keep you quiet, and see what you think.

Actually I live in NZ so Namco want me to pay more for the PC version than the console version was at launch, it's $79.99US here. Also the console version is also 6 months old now and can be picked up for cheap. And a lot of the people complaining are people that already played on consoles or have the option to do so and were waiting for what they expected to be an superior version of the game.

And From software have said that they won't support mods at all, any possible mods including fixing the terrible oversight of From when it comes to the PC version. May lead to being banned from online. Also 1080p hasn't been boner inducing for 6 years, and as has been said scalable resolution has been standard for 15+ years. The bigger problem is the reports that there is an unstable framerate even tho it's locked at 30fps and the stupidly low fixed resolution, that sounds pretty game breaking to me. Also keep in mind as a computer monitor is much closer than a TV the lower resolution is far more of a problem than the console version. Another factor is the fact that these problems exist also suggests that there will also be other problems in the PC version, if they can't even get the basics right, I have little faith that it will be a polished product overall.

Skyrim may be buggy but what game in the genre isn't? The Elder Scrolls games are some of the most wide open and ambitious games arround and fully support mods. The game is also fully playable and offers the standard features expected in a PC game. TES gets a free pass on a lot of stuff as no one else is making the kinds of games they do without those problems, where as From are missing basic features that 99% of games have, plus terrible performance. And they get plenty of shit for being buggy anyway, and at least you have the expectation that most of the issues will be fixed in that game without worrying about being blocked out of a major part of the game for doing so. And it at least runs well most of the time. There are lots of people that don't by Bethesda games due to their bugs as well.

I will still buy the game, just not at launch as I want to know what further problems are, and I can find a way of getting it for cheap. And also I think everyone should complain about this stuff as it increases the chances of these problems being fixed, if not in this game then in any future releases. If no one complained how would from know that it is a problem that should be fixed?

I can understand the framerate, but the resolution is disappointing.

The game is there. The content is there. If you don't want to play it because it won't have Ultra grafixxz, then you made your choice to miss out. A prime example of PC elitists.

When I install Doom 3 and there is no widescreen, no big deal, the game came out a decade ago. When I buy a game in 2012 and it doesn't have widescreen support, why the fuck would I buy it?

Because... the game is fun?

Hard games are not fun. I'm not a 14 year old with nothing better to do anymore. I actually have shit to take care of. When I want to relax, I don't want to have my ass handed to me by some broken videogame.

You dislike hard games?!  That's crazy I normally crank up the difficulty on a game beacuse I enjoy the level of satisfaction I get after beating a harder game.   I noticed you own Fire Emblem for the Wii.  That game was very difficult, were you a fan?

I did not care for it. I preferred the handheld games.
