I can understand the framerate, but the resolution is disappointing.

The game is there. The content is there. If you don't want to play it because it won't have Ultra grafixxz, then you made your choice to miss out. A prime example of PC elitists.

Ultra grafixxz? Having standard "selectable" resolutions is a basic feature in just about every pc game.

I'm not sure how they could have those framerate problems, considering the rendering resolution is so low.

When I install Doom 3 and there is no widescreen, no big deal, the game came out a decade ago. When I buy a game in 2012 and it doesn't have widescreen support, why the fuck would I buy it?

No, this one appears to be slightly better but slightly better is still a disgrace. I was not going to buy it without big improvements anyway. Now just hoping for mods or patches.

So a slightly better framerate vs. bigger, better more dedicated userbase, completely hack and cheat free, and much easier and better controls on a bigger screen (dont even try to convince me how WASD is better than analog stick, especially for this game) and bother bringing up accessories, because it only proves PC version sucks on its own

reading posts like this, i wonder why people talk about pc gaming if they have absolutley no clue about it. i mean, why are you talking about controller and bigger screen and bad wasd if you can play the same game on pc on the same tv-screen with the same controller? just put your ps3 hdmi cable out of your ps3 and in your pc or buy one for 5€ and you have your tv-experience. that's btw what i also do because i don't like keyboard/mouse combination for some games. but you know my advnatage then? i can play the same game (the witcher 2 right now) on my tv with 1080p (to make pictures i play on my pc screen) with much better graphics. and that's what i would like to do with dark souls, that's how a normal port should work.

and btw, most people who play "seriously" on pc have a bigger picture (or same size) than people playing on a tv. the screen is way smaller but the viewing distance is so close that in reality the picture is bigger or the same as if you play on your 50'' tv from whatever distance.

i just wonder and would like to know, how big is your tv-screen and your viewing distance? i don't really believe you have a real advantage with your screen to people playing one 22''+ pc-screen

You're right. I play on a 92" screen from 11ft away and still have a slightly higher field of view on my 19" pc screen at 2ft distance. Simple math. Sitting reclined in front of the huge screen with the ps3 controller plugged into the pc is more comfortable though.

Anyway I'll stick with the ps3 version. The framerate problems weren't that distracting to warrent a replay just for that.

I expect a certain level of craftsmanship in the games that I'm presented; when those expectations are not met, I do not make a purchase.

This is not a statement about the principle of PC development. It is not about sending a message.

It's that what they did is not good enough to justify my money when I could be playing something else.

That is exactly my point. The game and content is there, it's not broken. Whatever the reason, you made your choice.

You don't buy it. As I said, the game and content is there. It's fun and rated high. No widescreen? Then don't buy.

As Jay520 said in an earlier post, they openly admitted when development for the PC port began that it would be a direct port, and that they were having difficulty because of the lack of experience from the developers themselves.

Atleast they said it. No widescreen/resolution options puts you off? Then don't buy it.

Hard games are not fun. I'm not a 14 year old with nothing better to do anymore. I actually have shit to take care of. When I want to relax, I don't want to have my ass handed to me by some broken videogame.

There is nothing "elitist" in that decision.
