Forums - Sony - PSP-Go gathers dust. Why did it get 1/10 years of support?

It was Sony trying to adopt Nintendo's insanely successful revamp strategy.

Sony realized the hard way only Nintendo can get away with it.

This is inane. PSP had a 1000, 2000, and 3000 model. Then there is the E model. Nintendo didn't fundamentally change its device from the clamshell or switch to digital only.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Ok fair enough. Then it really just teaches a lesson to keep the original specs the same, just upgrade screen size, battery life, etc.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Well, I do agree with what the PSP go was doing, the fact is it didn't create an online retail space that was complete. That's why Vita is a huge redemption on what the PSP go should have been, ensuring that every title is available day one on the PS Store.

Because Sony thought they could successfully make new versions of the same product in the way that Nintendo does. But the thing is that Nintendo actually knows what they are doing.

and what's sad is... that's not trolling.

The PSP-GO's main problem was that it got rid of the USD drive.

The PSP-GO should of just been a different looking PSP with a much bigger harddrive.

The lack of a USD drive just made it too inferior, because it just doesn't make sense for every PSP game to have to take up space on Sony servers.  Seems too costly... unless they're charging the developers, who would then want to opt out.

Not to mention retail pressure.....

you missed the point of the go completely

reminds me of that  retarded article by destructiod when they also criticized it for not having a umd drive...becasue that was the point you know, to NOT have a umd drive, not inferior just different kinda like a uh, oh I don't know, option, for those not looking to carry around umds

and that is trolling

I didn't miss the point...

I got the point of it.

the problem was it was a HORRIBLE idea.

That's why the PSP go didn't sell.

It's main concept was flawed.

The differnece between the PSP Go and all the different DS redesigns, was that the DS didn't change functionality, just highlighted certain things over other things.

Which is what the PSP Go should have done.  Kept the UMD drive, but greatly expanded the memory.  Highlight downloadable games without taking anything away.

The destructoid article was right... how could you argue otherwise when the Go so obviously failed?

Sony didn't know what they were doing with the PSP Go.

Had they kept the UMD drive, the PSP Go would still be selling today.

ehhh, yeah....no

you know what, that was Sony's downfall this gen, not actually doing anything wrong, but assuming people were smart enough to figure out simple shit

Nah, the customer is plenty smart to know what product it wants.

the failure on a failed product falls soley on the manufacturerer for not understanding their potential customer.

Blaming the customer for being stupid is just a way to deflect blame.

Thankfully the people at Sony don't have an attitude like that or they would be destined to repeat failures.

If it was enough... it would of sold.

It didn't... so it clearly wasn't enough.

I disagree, there are many other factors which affected sales, marketing, price and how late the Go released in the console's lifecycle. If anybody who actually uses the PSP as a portable device was given a choice between the Go and the 3000 for the same price, I'm betting most of them would take the Go, primarily because it can actually fit in a pocket.

Mainly the price. It cost 250$ at launch which is completely ridiculous for a 5 year old handheld.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
