Forums - Sony - PSP-Go gathers dust. Why did it get 1/10 years of support?

I almost considered getting a go. To me it's the perfect way to go portable, EXCEPT

1 - PSP games drop in prices drastically more on physical copies. Including first party games (not a big problem for me, as I mostly buy japanese games, but probably a huge deal to most)

2 - A lot of games missing in the store

I didn't miss the point...

I got the point of it.

the problem was it was a HORRIBLE idea.

That's why the PSP go didn't sell.

It's main concept was flawed.

The differnece between the PSP Go and all the different DS redesigns, was that the DS didn't change functionality, just highlighted certain things over other things.

Which is what the PSP Go should have done.  Kept the UMD drive, but greatly expanded the memory.  Highlight downloadable games without taking anything away.

The destructoid article was right... how could you argue otherwise when the Go so obviously failed?

Sony didn't know what they were doing with the PSP Go.

Had they kept the UMD drive, the PSP Go would still be selling today.

With the UMD drive they wouldn't even have a product. The point of the PSP Go was, like its name says, to have the PSP on the go without holding cases and discs by having download games only. With a UMD drive it would just be a regular PSP so making it would be pointless.

The PSP Go just proves no one wants a download-only gaming system (outside of iOS/Android phones of course, but that's different).

Nah, you'd just have a premium PSP option.  Just redesign it a bit and throw in an internetal memory.  You'd be good to go.

Also the PSP Go could of worked.  Just not with the PSP around.

I mean, the advantages of the PSP Go were.... well nearly nonexistent.

I mean... what makes the PSP Go better then a regular PSP with a huge memory stick?

I always felt the psp go was a bad idea and never understood why any psp owner would get one. If you didn't have a psp tho there's still games coming out for the go sony just doesn't waste money advertising it.

I actually don't believe that the PSP Go was real.. Like loch ness and yeti.. Yeah sure people have heard of it but have you actually seen one in real life or touched one? Just media hype trying to bring Sony in a bad light...

I remember when riding the bus to school, ONE kid had a PSP Go not long after it came out. After I graduated, I never saw him again. I wonder what became of him...

It's a lot smaller, lighter, quieter and convenient, and that's enough. It made the Playstation Portable actually PORTABLE. If that's worth the trade off for losing UMD's for some people then they should go for it.

PSP go was nothing more than a test run for the vita. They needed a cheap experiment to see if people would buy a digital only device. We can argue till the cows come home about the availability of all psp games or not. The average consumer wouldn't know that all games weren't going to be available. And it's the average consumer that decides if a device lives or dies. They didn't want it, and thank god, cause the vita would have been download only other wise.

If it was enough... it would of sold.

It didn't... so it clearly wasn't enough.

Nobody wants to buy all their games digitally on a handheld console. Especially if the digital prices are higher than retail and most of the library isn't even in the market place. If it had a UMD drive then it would have sold better. Simple as that.

The guy or people that killed PSP Go realized it was a disaster. Anybody responsible for releasing a PSP without a UMD drive should be fired, but I assume that already occoured. PSP Go was simply created to get more people to buy digital games. It was released for Sony's benefit, not the fans.
