Forums - Sony - PSP-Go gathers dust. Why did it get 1/10 years of support?

PSP-Go was introduced to fix the problem with UMD. And it fixed, indeed.

But, ... it died.

Why did Sony let it die? It could easily coexist with PSP.

It even came with 10 free games with a low low price of $199.99

It also fixed the size issue where the PSP may be too big for portability with smaller people with smaller pockets.

It had longer battery life.

It had better screen.

Whoever made the call to kill it needs to be fired. What do you think?

Technically it still gets support because games are still downloadable...however it was a silly idea because it killed about 50% of the library

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I actually don't believe that the PSP Go was real.. Like loch ness and yeti.. Yeah sure people have heard of it but have you actually seen one in real life or touched one? Just media hype trying to bring Sony in a bad light...

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

If there was actual support for the platform it would be fine. But it missed out on a lot of games and those PSN prices were just too high for the most part. I'm a happy PSP Go owner (€99 special offer and it came with 10 free games) but only because I could wait for the games to drop in price or for special offers. I got a lot of Essentials for €7.99 or purchased when the games were cheap and in those cases the games felt like a steal. The regular prices on the other hand... oh boy! Buy a game for €40 on PSN or get a physical copy + manual for €15 on Amazon.

Sony needs to introduce Vouchers for their games as well. That way you can get the download copy and still pay less than the price they charge on PSN.

I like to think that the PSP had a mixture of being ahead of the times in terms of being a digital only handheld device and potentially not being the format people really wanted something like a digital platform on. PSP was losing wind by this time and people probably didn't want to invest in what they saw as a dying platform.

They did have vouchers.

I thought the Go was great, sure it was a little bit more expensive but it came with 10 free games. The only problem I can think of is that Crisis Core, my favourite game on the system, didn't have a digital version. Anybody who had a PSP Go will have a perfect transition into the PS Vita too.

All according to the 1/10 year plan.

I don't think it was killed off. PSP games are still coming to the PSN store(Granted it's probably more for the Vita now) but the PSP-Go benefits from this too

Because Sony thought they could successfully make new versions of the same product in the way that Nintendo does. But the thing is that Nintendo actually knows what they are doing.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
