I understand, you're targeting the 360. Hello!! The U.S is the strongest market for all consoles, a hypothetical question of is non-existence is rather retarded and it's a massive achievement that M$ is dominating there on only its second console.... Jeez, all the numbers are woeful for the 7th? year in this gen as consoles sold, why only target the 360? Ridiculous.

This is it, this was my entire point. This was the exact statement. Nothing more, nothing less. Everything else I said was in support of this.

 
Me: Wow, you are getting shafted. I live in Canada where everything is more expensive, I thought it was a very safe bet that your 360 sale prices were at least as good if not better. It doesn't change the fact that the 360 is cheaper though and will gain less from continued price cuts.

Me: My entire point is that the PS3 is bound to overtake the 360 in sales. I'm not talking about the profitability of the 360's hardware or Live service. Microsoft's profits are unrelated to the original point I made.

Me: Again, I absolutely couldn't care less about the Xbox brand or the actual importance of the PS3 outselling the 360. I stated that the PS3 outselling the 360 was an eventuality, nothing else.

The PS3 is going to eventually outsell the Xbox 360, in terms of LTD, global hardware sales, before the discontinuation of the each system. I feel confident in making this assertion based upon the facts that the gap stands at only 2 million units, the PS3 is currently outselling the 360, the PS3 is more expensive and stands to benefit more greatly from the next round of price cuts.

Why couldn't you just do this to begin with?

The best 360 deals I've seen have been in Canada. But Canada is a small market, so maybe MS does that to help make a worthwhile userbase there. Frankly, Canada just isn't important.

I'm actually not arguing which platform is more profitable (not that PS3 is profitable), I'm aruging who is more motivated by profit than sales.

You pointed out how the Kinect and PSN outage is not stopping the PS3 from overtaking the 360. But you ignore the 360 hasn't seen a price cut since 2008 and also charges for online play. Hence, you ignored PS3 advatages and focused only on the 360.

We can wrap up sales discussion there, if you'd like. We ultimately agree it will happen. But maybe not the reasons why.

Fair enough, I started with the illusion thing. It lead to an even more condescending response. End of story.

Indeed, the PS3 is outselling the Xbox 360. In fact, The same thing happened last year. But then the holidays rolled around, the competition was trounced, and 360 became the best selling console of the year. Will that happen again? Seems unlikely, but it seemed unlikely last year as well.

Wii surely, PS3 with some efforts and the right decisions and marketing, XB360 maybe, if MS really is interested.

People are saying since late 2005 than when Ps3 comes out will outsell 360 in the first year... we are in the 7th year and yet nothing... We will be in 2014 and still nothing will happen. Holidays will be uge for 360 once again gap will widen.

This gen will end :

1 - Wii
2 - Xbox
3 - Ps3

You do realize that the gap has practically never widened YoY and the PS3 has made continual gains over the 360 and shows market strength outside of the holidays and gainned a larger marketshare from the drop in Wii sales and has a much stronger hold in multiple markets over 360 and...I mean really.

I wasn't proclaiming who sells more or anything back then but I was baffled at people's dedication towards buying a more expensive(with XBL) and faulty machine. Xbox has no doubt carved itself a nice piece of the pie and has quite a bit going for it, but its sales outlook is faltering and Microsoft will be looking forward very soon. This gen has gone on for a long time.



Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

he joined here last year and last year just happened to be one of the 360's strongest holidays. i dont know why he keeps flaunting about the "holidays" for the 360. it aint gonna be anywhere near last years levels even with halo 4.

Well no biggest all 3 consoles seem to be dying out. Wii wil definitely get there, and I do agree that the PS3 has a big shot since it is big in smaller markets, but I don't think it has enough left in it. It probably will barely sell 10 mil this year, and I can't see it doing that next year and the year after
