Dragon Quest X will feature an open-ended story, as well as features introduced in Dragon Quest IX, including co-op multiplayer and character customization, Dragon Quest X can only be played offline for few hours and need to access online later to enjoy the full experience. There will be a subscription fee.

That's why I'm never going to buy it.

I can see this mimicking mhtri in the west with no suscription fees.

OT: Day 1 for me of course.

It might be a MMO, but it's definetily part of the main series. The Single Player aspect is still pretty strong, on par to what it was on DQIX from what I've been reading.

Just because it has a heavy online component, it doesn't mean that it won't be a good main DQ game. And I'm saying this as a huge anti-MMO gamer.

Current PC Build

Well there's a preorder site called COMGnet, and there's a thread n it with dail updates which I keep track of:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=98078&page=1#

It shows that DQX preorders are no where near DQIX's, let alone any DQ main series game. It's single player mode is just a few hours. So my prediction is that it will sell amazing for an MMO, but won't get close to a million, not by a long shot!

Wow dude. I remember when this was supposed to save the Wii from it's decline in Japan. After all the delays and bad news and it becoming a MMO...

I agree that it'll probably be one of the worst selling main DQ games, mostly because of the subscription fees on Japan, but i'm talking about the quality of the game itself.

The few hours that you can play is the offline mode, afterwards you'll need a constant internet connection. While it's new approach to the DQ series, it's nothing that hasn't been tried with other RPGs this generation, and there have been some success stories with this method. Being constantly online doesn't mean that you'll have to play it MP constantly as well.

I think it'll be mostly a case of wait and see on how the public reaction will be once it comes out.

Well looking at some preorder numbers, it's highly unlikely that it will do anything close to 500k FW bar a miracle happens. It's projected at around 150k-300k FW right now.

I was really looking forward to this game when it was announced for the first time. But the fee system .......

I guess i wont buy it. I mean jrpgs for my are games I want to OWN i want to play them whenever i want. In 15 years from now I want to be able to play them but an mmorpg with no proper offline mode just wont let me do it.

I hope the offline mode is more complex than it seems to be and that the game can be played till the end in offline mode. Otherwhise I dont see myself buying it. And paying for to play online is especially a reason not to buy it.

Lets just hope the offline mode is good and that it will go free to play in the US/EU like Monster Hunter Tri on Wii did.

I say 400k FW.

Btw it's being released on a Thursday and not the usual Saturday that the big games release on! It's not being treated like a main series which shows that they believe sales won't be that huge
